I sometimes wonder if Alex will be the next David Carr. I defended David Carr and said that his line gave him little time to throw the ball. I thought that if his line would hold up, Carr wouldn't look so bad.
I was wrong and the problem wasn't the line at all. It was Carr. And I am beginning to think that Alex will fall under that category. Who knows, maybe Carr will benefit from being a backup and revitalize his career. But I doubt that's gonna make the Texans feel any better about drafting him.
I still have faith in Alex but I have to admit that right now, he is still a bottom 10 starting QB.
While I wouldn't put Vince Young that high, I have to admit that despite not being a great passer, he finds way to get his team the win.

That's like "God, Jesus, and Alex Smith... not necessarily in that order." That was good. I actually laughed out loud at that one.

The only ones that surprised me on this list were Vince Young and Matt Schaub. Not that they don't both have the potential but you've got them above some pretty good guys so early in their careers, particularly Schaub. I also think that Smith is better than many of the guys you've got above him.

I would put Peyton Manning #1 over Brady and Palmer, in that order. But that's mainly because I'm a Tennessee Vols fan.

That's a combination of things...How good they currently are and how good their careers have been...But people like Favre and McNair are lower because of current play level even though they've had good careers.
Edit: To adjust Trent Green. He truly sucks at this point in his career.

Delhomme is perhaps the most inconsistent QB there is. He'll throw 4TD's one game and 4 INT the next.

Agreed. Delhomme is at best a talented journeyman.
I think Jason Campbell should be a bit higher. He's improving noticeably, and I think has a lot of promise. Brett Favre seems to be showing some of his old self too this season.

That guy has made a few Aaron Brooks plays this year. He's got some work ahead of him.

I haven't been all that impressed with him in the two games I've watched him so far. He hasn't been horrible, not great either. He's got the tools to be a Brett Favre type QB, but those types of QBs can be wildly inconsistent, and make a coach's hair turn gray a lot faster.

Alex Smith>McCown
Even though hes played in 3 "open" offenses, he's shown good poise and understanding in each system. Granted, their Qb friendly, but hes looked better than Smith.
Smith always looks confused and not sure of himself and where he wants to put the ball.
McCown doesnt hesitate to go downfield and he looks good in the pocket. Alex prefers to move around and let things breakdown before he makes his throw.

While I wouldn't put Vince Young that high, I have to admit that despite not being a great passer, he finds way to get his team the win.
Yeah he hands the ball of too travis henry or white/brown and watches from the sidelines as his defense makes plays... then he makes one play, gets on sportscenter and gets all the credit. We've seen this before in atlanta. Eventually defenses adjust to his style, he won't be able to pass and his team will suck.
Alex is better than Garcia? :ok:
Yes.
