Preferably Nolan and Hostler are the ones who should be dumped, because they are most responsible for this abortion of a season. But at this point I would even maybe settle for a mid-management sacrificial lamb like the guy who defogs York's glasses or the assistant to the traveling secretary. Someone needs to go, or some kind of change needs to be made. But for the organization to sit and do nothing, and collectively shake their heads in confusion and offer no answers for why things have gone so terribly wrong, is unacceptable.

I was toying with the idea of "keep this thread on page 1 until the Niners win a game," but it was dismissed as flat out ridiculous. That might not happen until 2009.

It's scary how much times have changed. Mooch gets fired because the organization doesn't think he can coach the team to another championship, and Nolan cannot get fired despite running the team into the ground.

It's a crazy mixed up world.

I agree. We need some BALLS on this team and it should start up top! Allowing this team to sit there and shake their heads every sunday is horrible. The team nees to NUT UP and fire someone for this mess! That's how you make change..... players change.... playcalling changes...

I wanna see a head roll on the front of the paper... do it for the team of the 80's!!!

To watch a new OC try and grow with a new offense.... great freakEN move!!! FIRE HIM NOW!!!! It pains me to see his stupid bald head every sunday.... freggin deer in some headlights....

:falldownlaugh: My thoughts too, how can anyone market the 49ers experience right now. With more wins people will fill the old stadium. With a new fancy stadium and a family zone to keep the drunks away the average fan will come too. Aside from that what more can you get?

If Nolan gets stripped of his GM role does that count?"

Quite possibly. My prediction is, if he gets stripped of power, he'll have a tantrum and either quit or get himself fired. The guy is a narcissist, and those personality types cannot handle getting wounded. So he actually needs to be removed from the organization by hook or by his own volition. If he's still around making football decisions, that would be unacceptable, and this thread will still need to stay on page 1.

Mr. Mike Nolan has had enough time but, because he has shown nothing, it is time for him to go. Players like Ashley Leli need to be replaced along with some other recycles that we got from other teams. the cards game....wow...i hated toliner for a long time. Now he's got the weapons he wished he had 2 years ago.

watching the game live i swear it was Barlow and EJ again...except they were explosive.

Vernon in Toliners offense will be dangerous, and Gore? 200 total yards, finally.

I was overcome when Gore ran the ball right into my endzone for the lead in the fourth. Amazing to see that here in upset city AZ.

Yes, it was one win...but it was a win for a team playing like i've never seen them play before, with confidence, with heart, and P willy and his never die attitude is going to pay off.

One question, where the hell was our secondary?
With the exception of Harris and his two picks and Stricktlands amazing play with 2 secs left, we might as well have been rushing eight the whole time. Clements kept Boldin quite, but Fitz and the rest went off.

There always has to be one thing to complain about, right?

A poster in another thread argues against firing Nolan because it would just be like starting over with a new coach. This is more blind faith that Nolan has a plan to move this team towards winning. He doesn't impress me as a leader, or a strategist, and he certainly has proved to be a weak coach. To keep him at the reins out of fear of not wanting to start over with a new coach is lunacy. Being a bad team with an old coach or a new coach adds up just the same.

Instead of a straight bump, I thought about a theme song for the 49ers this year. Since this team is so "together" as a team, I thought this would work:

Kumbaya, my Niners, kumbaya
Kumbaya, my Niners, kumbaya
Kumbaya, my Niners, kumbaya
O Niners, kumbaya

Someone’s laughing, Niners, kumbaya
Someone’s laughing, Niners, kumbaya
Someone’s laughing, Niners, kumbaya
O Niners, kumbaya

Someone’s crying, Niners, kumbaya
Someone’s crying, Niners, kumbaya
Someone’s crying, Niners, kumbaya
O Niners, kumbaya

Someone’s praying, Niners, kumbaya
Someone’s praying, Niners, kumbaya
Someone’s praying, Niners, kumbaya
O Niners, kumbaya

Well, at least the Niners can have the warm kumbaya feeling. . .

You can decide who is laughing and why, who is crying and why and who is praying and what for. For me . . .

Laughing that people are happy if we win 2 of the next four games, or even 1 of 4 to keep Nolan's job.
Crying because this organization is at its lowest point in over 30 years and no real hope in sight that this will end anytime soon.

Having said all that, Go Niners because they are still my team.

It's either HOS or Nolan if he doesn't have the minerals to fire HOS!

The goal of this thread was to see things change, because it was evident many weeks ago that this ship was going down. If or when someone finally gets the axe (preferably Nolan and Hostler), I will not take any personal joy in seeing someone be out of work. But from a business or real world perspective, people don't deserve to keep their jobs when they perform so inadequately.

Nolan said that the kid wasn't bringing the Gatorade to him fast enough, and that b/c the kid had a sprained ankle - it shouldn't have affected his performance.

The Water-boy will be going to Mercury News today and will say that Nolan undermined him and now the towel and ball boys don't give him any respect

It may turn out that Nolan will keep his job another year, and that should be good enough for another solid 4-12 record in 08. The wins may vary from 2 to 6 depending upon how lucky he gets with his haphazard decision making on fourth downs and timeouts.

However, this will mean little to the award winning tailgaters, because they just go to the games to have a good time.

Here are some teams of the league's worst teams who have gone on to have at least one successful season within a 3 year period

San Diego 4-12 in 2003, 14-2 in 2006
Cleveland 4-12 in 2006, 10-6 in 2007

You can go from really bad to good in one season in this salary cap era. Nolan has had a losing season every single year. We haven't sniffed the playoffs. Just to show how bad the product has been under Nolan has been, here is our point differential in each of his 3 years

2005: -189
2006: -114
2007: -145

There is not a single reason why we should keep Nolan, unless we can demote him to Defense Coordinator
