AM radio in sports and politics is generally no holds barred. Here is a blog from Paulie of ESPN 920 where he goes after Shawne Merriman in a very Berry Bonds fashion.

I figured since I was very bored at work I would get your thoughts.

Let the discussions begin!

Maybe Jones-Drew is on some juice! Seriously, if anyone that short gets good in a good squatting position to get under the defender and exert all his power through his legs, they could put most defenders on their arse.

Yea he should probably get back on steroids he isn't very good this year without them. Getting blown up by MJD who is almost a foot shorter and 60 pounds lighter is a red flag that this man needs the juice. It's funny how people neglect the fact that Merriman was dominating last season, gets caught for steroids and comes back this season significantly less affective but there isn't much said at all about his steroid use while in baseball there are certain players who are cruscfied by the public and media for the same thing. Is there a double standard for football and baseball?

I wonder what VD looked like before he met Shawne.

And Jones-Drew knocking Merriman on his arse is a pretty good sign that Merriman's no longer juicing. Cause that definitely wouldn't have happened last year.

WOW, not only do they take a picture of him after he spent 6+ months training for the combine and weight drills and compare it to a picture where he is in his normal routine without that training, but they dont even compare pictures from the same distance and angle. AM radio, stick to the politics.

I'm not saying he didnt do roids, but using this as "proof" is a joke.

The whole bolts defense have been shet this whole year. So it's not like merriman has been the only one whose shown a sharp decline in production. But I must admit the 2nd pictures posted shows a massive difference in size :surrender:

It does appear that the picture he looks bigger in appear to be a more close up shot than the 2nd.

at this rate, he'll be playing free-safety next year.

Or Kicker, by year four.

And by the time his career is set and done, he'll look like Al Davis:puppet:

I don't think the writer of the blog trying to "prove" Shawne did steroids. The positive test for nandrolone conducted by the NFL last year already proved that.

I think what he guy who is writing the blog is pointing out is how much Shawne has dropped off this year since testing positive and (in his opinion) how smaller he looks this year.

There was a huge debate over this on the boards about Bonds. I was curious to see how everyone would react to the steroid issue in football.

Just for the record ESPN 920 is a Las Vegas station who call them selves “The home of the San Diego Chargers.”

Many of the guys are big SD homers.

It was funny how people played off the gain of 15 lbs. of all muscle in one year as not being a sign.

owned.

lmao, agreed.

But reading Merriman's explanation I can see how he didn't expect that. The fullback went right by him and he probably thought he had a clear shot at the QB after that.

Still, good hit and nice angle by MJD.

PFT broke this story initially and they have the bottom line

The BEFORE photo is doctored.

Merriman wasn't in camp when they did team photos that year, so they photoshopped his head on Jamal Williams' body.

However, it is the head and neck that are pasted, and although there is a scale issue, that neck is not as big as it was.

The one on the far left is an obvious photoshop. Look around the neck and uniform and you can see that.

Correct. Merriman was a hold out at training camp, so they doctored his college photo on to Jamaal Williams' body for the teams media guide.

But still, I don't understand what this picture comparing is supposed to prove, we all know he failed the steroid test.

It may not be Jamal Williams but it also isn't Merriman. Merriman wears #56. That guy on that pic is wearing #97

The guy in the blog states that the very first one is a doctored photo:

Now the Chargers say Merriman was late reporting to camp so they just took his face and put it on somebody elses body. But that does not explain how skinny his face is.

He then goes on to criticize his play this year. The photos really in question are the 2nd and 3rd photos.

As for the pictures, you really shouldn't be using those to determine whether or not someone used steroids.

We all know he did, but for one we have no idea if he's still using or not, since I think its safe to say that testing is always far behind in being able to detect newer steroids. And Maurice Jones being able to level him has nothing to do with anything. Its called leverage.

Well, Luis Castillo has been hurt a good amount this year, and they no longer have Donnie Edwards, who had been as good of a 3-4 ILB and playmaker as anyone in the league other than Ray-Ray and Bart Scott, if you ask me.

That, and losing both their D-coordinator (Wade Phillips) and LB Coach (Manusky) doesn't help, either.

yup. I think merriman was in the processof backing off too. Maybe he saw the fake. Or maybe he was getting ready to shift if mojo tried to cut the last thing he expected was for him to come straight at him and pop him.

It was a thing of beauty though. He was maaaad. :D
