Despite his family issues I feel that we should hire Andy Reid as our next head coach. Rumor has it that he will not be the coach of the Eagles next year. What are your thoughts?

Also should we bring in Donovan McNab to challenge Alex Smith for our starting QB position?

I'm curious what your takes are.

In case you forgot Andy Reid is a disciple of Bill Walsh.

I can't believe I didn't think of this before. I would absolutely LOVE Andy Reid here in San Francisco...

I'd say, trade a lot of the bandwagon fans for other fans. Since we're playing make-believe.

"No, really" isnt a take. Try posting something that actually is insightful or helpful instead of being a wise ***.

The niners are not gonna fire Nolan for atleast another couple years if they keep having losing seasons. The Yorks arent gonna give up on nolan anytime soon

He had some good years in Philly but if he couldn't win the big one with the talent he had then what makes you think he could do better with less talent?

To use the phrase that pays...the 80's 49ers are not coming back...:banned:

I understand where you are coming from. But I can help but remember one key point that Steve Young made on ESPN right after we lost to the Seahawks. We need a winning foundation. Which we dont have right now. The only person that we currently have on our roster the last time we won a Super Bowl hell even a single playoff game is B.Y. That is why I think Andy Reid would be a great hire.

What the heck makes you think The Eagles are going to fire Andy Reid?

The NFL is full of Walsh disciples. And none of them are in SF.

When the Niners have been looking for a head coach in recent years, former Walsh coaches (Ray Rhodes, Dennis Green) have been declined. Clearly, the Yorks do not want to cling to the Walsh stigma. They want the team to have a different identity. In the NFL, teams have to change to remain successful. As great as it was - the Walsh era is over.

So are a bunch of other unemployed coaches.

Reid will most likely take a year or two off if he gets fired. He's got a lot of family stuff to worry about, and will most likely welcome the break from football for a short time.

Bill Walsh once coached for Al Davis, Paul Brown and Don Coryell. Does that make everyone a disciple of Al? Or Paul Brown? Or Don Coryell? At what point do people who've never worked for some coach stop getting lumped in some nostalgic fantasy of "So-and-so" disciple.

Reid didn't work for Walsh. He worked for Holmgren. In his bio he lists five coaches as influences. Not a one of them is Walsh and only Holmgren is a pro-level coach. The others are all college.
