Niners traded to Chicago:

QB- Alex Smith
WR-Darrell Jackson

Chicago trades to us:

Their 1st rounder, around the 16th pick
DE-Alex Brown

with our 1st round 16th pick-OT- Sam Baker
with our 1st round 27-30th pick- QB-Colt Brennan
with our 2nd round 34-37th pick-WR- Limas Sweed,Adarius Bowman, or D.J. Hall

Free Agency-pick up: OG Alan Faneca-Pittsburgh
WR Bernard Berrian- Chicago
DT-Albert Haynesworth-Tennessee Titans

Reasons-Alex Smith still doesn't impress me much.Lets get a new qb in Colt Brennan. Dilfer will still be their to mentor Brennan for a year or 2.O-line is a major problem so give him good pass protection in drafting Sam Baker and picking up Veteran Alan Faneca. W'ell give brennan good targets with wide receivers 1.Berrian 2.Battle 3.Sweed,Hall, or Bowman. Well get a major pass rush with young Alex Brown from Chicago, who Chicago wont mind giving him up because they have Anderson and Ogunleye and need QB.Haynesworth will be a menace in the middle.Haynesworth+A.Brown+M.Lawson+P.Willis=Mayhe m

Of course all of this is disregarding the amount of money this will cost lol, but what the heck.:hoppy:

People would jump off of roof tops in Chicago. Alex Smith and Darrell Jackson do not have 1st round value combined despite Smith's draft position. Let alone combining the two in a package to get a 1st round pick and Alex Brown. It would be a GREAT trade for the 49ers, but realistically it's probability is 0%.

You know what?! That might actually work if the bears front office is full of a bunch of dumb asses. Why would the Bears want a wide out who get catch anything and a QB who was questionable at best before he got hurt. If I where the 49ers I would attack the free angency market strongy like they did with defense last year, except this time do it for offense. Pull out their wallet and do whatever it takes! If Chad ends up leaving the Bengals grab him! Get all the big name players that are free agents, or trade for some people that want out of whatever team they are on that don't have long term contracts!

i believe that if chicago would take that trade we should do it. and im also all about having colt brennan, people think that hes a system qb, well all qb's are system qb. college is all shotgun and spread out. nfl isnt, every qb is a system qb and thats why it takes time to develop them. but besides that. i think we should try for de justin smith, i think hed be a great addition. as far as your draft would go. baker would be great, and sweed and brennan. i like it. so they can bash me too. some people just dont understand stuff

I would love to see the Niners take Colt at the end of the 1st round but I doubt there would be a team dumb enough to trade for Alex Smith unless it was a 4-6 round draft choice.

You want us to take 25 year old Colt Brennan who has never played in an NFL style offense?
Didn't we take a way younger QB with the 1st pick in the draft that did not run a NFL style offense and pay him way more than we would pay a QB picked at the end of the first round?
Also, we know how bad Alex sux so if we had a team dumb enough to take Alex off our hands, we could cut our losses and try with Colt.
We know how bad Alex is but we don't know how bad or good Colt can be AND we can find out at a way cheaper rate...
Open your mind to new ideas or go down with the sinking ship...

well it just makes sense. if chicago were to take that trade, you basically filled some of our priority needs. some people just put the whole kabosh on your idea cause u mentioned brennan, but i think he would be a good player. also the people who dont know who baker is, who is a solid o linemen and we need that badly. the other need for de is why i threw in justin smith. but hey some people just dont get it right?

Which is one of the reasons I'm happy that we landed the mediocre Matt Leinart at 10, and he has a contract that is performance bonus laden (meaning he'll never make much of that cash at all).

Believe they have to keep smith for at least 1 more season as he needs more the 3 days to learn a new offensive scheme and an Oline that can pass block. Think they should get a guy like Josh johnson who can sit that year and learn and start the 09 season if alex really is a bust.
