I will be attending my First game at Candlestick (Monster Park)
Any suggestions the faithful may have so I can get the
Full Niner Game Experience.
My wife just turned 49 so I told her we would go to a
game of her choice since she became my #1 49er!!
This just happens to be the game she picked.
I wish we were having a better season but we will come
LOUD AND PROUD to Candlestick Park to help represent.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

We will be flying in from Spokane Wa.
I have attended several games at Quest field in Seattle, sometimes they can be friendly bunch and other times they are down right mean fans. We were at the blow out on Nov 12th. The SeaGull fans were doing what they do best. Just don't look up if you know what I mean.

Any way I hope to get a great Fan experience!!

Thanks Teke. I found some useful information in that thread.
It looks like it will be a fun time in and around the tailgating areas.
Since we are hoping to take public transportation from our Hotel,
I hope the locals are willing to take in an out-of-towner and treat
him with kindness (lots of drink and food) before the game.

Maybe if I'm wearing this:

Hater, you gonna do something about it when you are old enough to get Season Tix?

Anyway, the weather is supposed to be clear which is good. There will be a lot of empty seats as many fans are used to having the best O in the league for 20 years and will not show up to watch this. There will also be a lot Purple as the Viking travel well. What you will get is 30,000 solid faithful, 5,000 Viking fans, 10,000 fair weather fans that will leave at the half, and 15,000 empty seats. People will be tailgating from 8:00AM on so show up ASAP. Sure you will find a tailgate.

I had a great time out there, despite the outcome of the game... wearing that....

I'll be back next year. And most likely every year from now on. I just won't be spending the entire week out there and blowing that amount of money LOL. But I will be paying my dues to Club 49, and getting them back for the hospitality they gave me.

I already have season tix and our fans are horrible. They need a scoreboard to tell them when to cheer or when not too. They cheer during the offensive possesion when you're not supposed too. Oh yea and a lot of the fans leave at half time. Great fans.

While you are right... no need for that type of comment. Don't worry they'll all be gone soon. Stop ****'n and support the team. You are the next generation.

Then you are talking about yourself. Next time use a "some fans" or "a lot of the fans" it gives you some wiggle room. As for the cheering every fan base cheers when the game is exciting that is why the QB's are always waving their hands to be quiet. As for leaving at half time, all stadiums are empty when you suck. ATL half full, Car half full. When the 49ers were going to the playoffs every year Candlestick was a party and will be again when they come back.

Do you notice how it is just as loud in the second half after half have left?

Our fans are terrible please dont go.

Thats you too. Every team has fair weather fans. Not saying 49er fans are great, they are spoiled. But look at the Warriors for example, everyone says Warrior fans are the best fans in the NBA. Yet before their run you could have picked your seats all over the stadium and the whole upper bowl was empty. Do winning teams make good fans or good fans make winning teams? Ask the Cubs.

ethanh

whatever. Go to the games and you will see.

I got 7 season tickets now and have had seats since Young, why do you think I took offense?

I just think some of the fans are uneducated about the game. They dont know when to cheer unless it says on the scoreboard and I've had a lady tell me to sit down because he was trying to watch the game. Oh and Ravens and Saints fans totally were owning the place.

there are a lot of cool niner fans, however i agree with you on a good amount of them. lots of them cheer at the wrong time, if at all (at least that's what i've noticed). when i go to a game, i expect to not have a voice the next day from the defense chant and getting as loud as i possibly can when the opposing offense is in the huddle... the twelth man can work in close games, and it's a shame to see many lacksadaisical fans in those times.

and to the original poster, have a GREAT time!!! go niners!!!

As I had said originally, I have been to several games at Quest field in Seattle.
Those fans are organized and know how to bring on the noise when their team
is on defense. There is additionally a lot of noise when they are on offense.
I don't know if this is because of the opposing fans (Niner Fans from close
and afar) or if the crowd just always has a buzz about it.
I additionally go to some Arena Ball here in Spokane, which is pretty new
to the area and the fans did not seem to know when to cheer.
It took some time to educate them.
You only have control over what you do.
If you try and educate the people around you as to the proper
"Fan Reactions" during the game then it could spread like wild fire(?).

I plan on having fun and bringing the noise on defense to try
and help the team as one of many 12th men!! :help:

The stadium PA should do an educational announcement.

This is an interesting point because in Baseball we cheer both your pitcher pitching in big moments as well as for your batter hitting in a big moment. In Basketball it is the same thing, yelling both sides of the ball. In football it makes sense to be loud to disrupt the play calling and snap so you want to be loud when on Defense. However, since our stadium is not loud enough to mute the snap call how do we not know the noise at the line of scrimmage is just a motivation like it is in other sports. I just blew my mind so may be wrong.

Do they chant "defense" when the offense is on the field? I don't get what the problem is. Unless they are attempting to be loud and cause false starts

the louder it is, the harder it is for the QB to hear the play call and/or direction from the OC, and also, it's harder for him to be heard in the huddle or when calling out the signals. it is therefore very important that the home crowd be as loud as they possible can when the opposing offense is on the field, and on the flip side, be relatively quiet when their own offense is on the field.

the best time to cheer the offense is during or after a good play occurs.

LOL. It just seemed strange to me. I have never heard of fans "cheering at the wrong time."

It is not like they are idiots and cheering for the wrong team when they score a touchdown. It happens for example on a 3rd down at the goal line. The 49ers are trying to score and the fans are cheering them on and getting excited with anticipation. The QB is trying to call the play but the fans are making so much noise out of excitement he can't. So the fans all need to know that they need to quiet down before the snap, very difficult and it happens all over the NFL some stadiums worse then others.

Here its 8 times a year for the past several years. we have a great fanbase, we just are tired of the product. try paying 4 dollars a gallon for gas to get to the game, 5 dollar hotdogs and soft drinks and spending good money tailgating. Nobody told me where the tailgate was. I was hoping more people would swing by my seats since everyone knows I got my ticket from Larry.

I guess I was a little let down because I have lived in Florida the majority of my life (Spain until I was 6) and I have been following the Niners since 1992 (9 years old) So I had been waiting for today for 15 years. I got goosebumps as I walked into the corridor and saw the field. The same field Dwight Clark made The Catch on and the same field we played on the road to 5 Superbowls. Part of the reason I chose this season to come out is I wanted to see a game at The Stick before a new stadium was created (of course it doesn't look like that will happen now either). The loss and team performance didn't bother me as much as the fans at the game did.

Although the place roared when the PA Announcer said "In at quarterback #13 Shaun Hill"

I think the fans should be behind the players win or lose. If you only support your team when you are having a winning season you are falling short of being, IMO, a faithful fan. And when the team is loosing this is when they need you the most BTW!! All I know is if I were a player and I traveled to other stadiums and heard the support of those fans in an away game, I would come home to Monster Park and feel like there was a lack of support from the fan base in the City I Play for. If the fan base does not show they are behind their team when they are in this slump, what is the players motivation to step up their game to get the fans involved? As a fan I am behind this team win or loose. I traveled over a 1,000+ miles and was not disappointed one bit in the team I saw. I was however disappointed in the fan base at Candlestick park. This was the quietest I have ever seen a stadium for their home team. I lived in Phoenix for a while, and the Cardinals were also in a loosing slump and while the stadium was not full, the crowd was still behind their team and making noise and STANDING UP while they were on Defense.

I will be back to Monster Park and the People will again have to say "Down In Front" as I stand and show my support for this team .... Winning or Loosing.

Thanks for the memories!!!
