View Full Version : LenDale White on Sports Center - 49ers

I am watching sports center right now and LenDAle White was being interviewed. I just heard Lyndel White state that he thinks he could end up with the 49ers. That he has talked to them today over the phone.
This isn't fortelling much and seems just like some more speculation, but I think we could make a few assumptions from this.
For instance:
1. It seems obvious that the Niners are looking at a RB at #22.
2.The Niners no longer have a 2nd round pick. So if they were interested in White, they would have to take him with their 22nd pick.
3. This may be fortelling of the Niners interest in Deangelo Williams. I think they called White incase Williams is not there at #22
4. If the Niners do pick up a RB at #22 - this means bye bye Barlow via trade.
I like Deangelo Williams, but I think White would fit our needs best if #4 stated above is true. White would be Thunder - Gore would be lightning
My question is do you think that we will be picking both offensive players in the first round? I think we need to address both sides of the ball...

I seriously doubt this happens.....but if there is any truth to it.....the bigger truth is that this would mean the Niners go Defense with the #6 pick. No way they go with two offensive players in the first round.
i don't think we will draft lendale at 22, if we do i won't be happy about it. we have bigger needs then RB even if we take AJ with the 6th pick, there are still much better players to be had @ 22 then lendale.
It means nothing almost every team makes some contact with almost every 1st round area pick. Its just to worry other teams= "smoke screen". im sure the niners have contacted leinart, young and cutler. that doesnt mean we are seriously interested in any of those players.

I will be highly dissapointed if we draft both offensive players in the first round. With our #6 spot, I really don't care if Mario, AJ, or Vernon falls to us, its a win-win situation.
I know my post is based off of a Sports Center interview and a reported phone call. I am sure all teams are placing numerous calls to rookies right now. The only reason why I posted this thread is because he was asked what team do you think will draft you, and he said the 49ers. Just thought I should share that and that it would be fun to run with that and add even more speculation to the never ending speculation that has plagued this message board for the last three months.

Pittsburg and Indy are both interested in him, and may be looking to jump up in the draft. If the perception is that we are looking at either White or Williams, we may get a good offer from Pitt to trade out of the 22 spot.
The ONLY way I think we trade out of 22 is if VD is gone at 6 and we take Hawk AND the top three corners AND Lawson are all gone by 22. We could trade down, and still pick up one of the top three TEs at 32, and get a second and a fourth from pitt.
Ain't gonna happen, but it seems more logical than us taking white at 22.

This has to be draft rumormongering and/or White expressing his best-case-scenario in terms of potential earnings. Even if Nolan & Co. have concluded that Gore isn't the long-term answer, the Niners have far too many needs on defense to be looking at RB at #22. But as trade bait, it's a rumor of potential value.
I think White will be taken by Pittsburgh, and he'll be a Class A Bust as he crumbles trying to live up to the standard set by the Bus.

it doesn't seem like a boat load of interest if it was just over the phone but it makes me think that barlow may all but be shipped...possibly a 3rd depending on how his contract is
The niners must have a deal struct to get rid of Barlow if they are looking to go running back... why do we need man boobs mcgee? We don't RB is actually one of the few positions that isnt hurting that bad!

:clapping: Hell yes. DeAngelo Williams would be a great pickup at 22 if we can get rid of Barlow!
The quick shift back in DeAngelo Williams and the Bruiser back Frank Gore! What a 1-2 punch

I'd be sick if we drafted white at 22.
I think Nolan is just trying to cover the bases in case all of the 1st round grade LBs are gone at 22. In which case we may trade that pick for a late first/early 2nd and late 2nd/early 3rd or something.

Just remember, Aaron Rodgers thought he was going to end up with the 49ers last year...enough said...

Man I seriously don't think were going to use both are picks on offensive. I could so see why Nolan would like Lendale White cause he's a bruiser and knows how to win. You need those kinds of guys in the huddle. BUT I live in LA and everyone here has always questioned his work ethic. Even Matt Lineart said on the Tony Bruno show that. "Yeah maybe he could practice a little harder but the guys brings it on game day" With that said, If you have that attitude. The type that makes you think you dont have to practice hard just show up makes me think once he sign's that big check he could end up like a Moss or T.O
Sure they have there pro and cons but do you really want a ticking time bomb in the locker room? I trust Coach.......I'll cant wait to see what happens.

Lendale White to the 49ers would be one of the dumbest moves in draft history. There's no way it would happen.

I was watching "1st and 10" - and Skip Bayless had us taking Lendale with the 6th pick in the first round  , he was serious too. That pick alone makes it the worst mock i have ever seen.

this might mean us getting White at 22, then trading him to the steelers for their 32nd and 3rd round pick.

Why did we trade up to #22 to draft White and then traded him to the Steelers for their #32 and third round? which is equivalent to 37 + 68 in exchange for 32 + 96.

i have always said we are seriously looking at a Rb at 22 but my ranking of RB's follows:
DeAngelo
Maroney
White
Addai/Drew
If DeAngelo is gone, I sure would like Laurence Maroney.
That boy can play :play:

I highly doubt we are drafting a RB at 22 unless there are serious concerns about Gore's recovery or if there is a Barlow trade is the works that nobody knows about yet.
It sounds like we may be putting out a few rumors to keep other teams guessing.

Watch for the 49ers to trade 6 and 22 for #2. Smith will be handing the ball off to his old time RB. BUSH....:flex:
That sounds great, but it is highly doubtful we're going to trade two WOULDBE impact players for a NFL unproven player. Coach mentioned he's staying I think, but hey, what do you expect, it's the draft.

Who knows.. Maybe Kevan "can't find the running lane" Barlow will be cut.

Get real...
If there was a lane for him to find he would have found it. If Beasley wasn't clogging those lanes instead of opening them up, Barlow would have found them...
Open your eyse it was a collective group effort to suck hard last year....you can't single one guy out.
