If we draft a Qb do we need a fast mobile QB or a big strength QB?

How about both.

I'd settle for a notmattleinart qb myself.

I'm biased towards the mobile quarterback, but it depends on what type of offense we're running next year.

Lets draft a QB with Joe Montana qualities and run the west coast offense. Why did we stray away from a proven offense.

Let's draft Arnold Schwarzeneggar.

the classic speed vs. strength. in this case i'd go for speed (with accuracy) if applicable. i'm a gator fan and i like tebow, but i don't think he's NFL material like say dennis dixon, pat white, or colt brennen. so ya i like speed over strength.

Brady Leaf is such an awkward name.

After watching the Niners-Bengals game, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest a mobile quarterback.

Because those days are over with. And believe it or not, a west coast offense can be stopped dead in it's tracks. Especially in this day and age.

And yet it will still be better than the offence we have had the majority of this season.

There are some fine prospects, Colt Brennan (from Hawaii Warriors), Erik Ainge (from Tennessee Volonteers) and Dennis Dixon (from Oregon Ducks), there will be selected during 2nd. (Brennan) an 3th. round (Ainge and Dixon), last one may be 4th., but I'll bet for Brennan who's able to throw and run really fine like Dixon, Ainge is a pocket passer.

How so? We would still be failing running that offense. As a matter of fact, we'd probably do worse somehow. Hostler doesn't run a pure west coast offense. We'd be running something he had less experience with. I don't see why you think our players would be successful in an offense they're not used to rather than the one we run now. At least we're used to that one.

what about matt cassel from the Patriots? It would be cool if we can get him somehow. would it be a risk to get him even though he rarely (if ever) played in college or in the nfl? I think he is worth a shot just because he has been exposed to pro style offenses under carrol at usc, weis,...and is learning behind Brady. He has Romo ingredients written all over him. any thoughts?

Don't like it. This is not the first time I have heard someone on this message board say he has Romo like ingerdiants, he has the story of Derek Anderson. That is no way a reason to trade for or draft a quaterback. You look at physical ability, mental capacity, etc. You don't look at the fact his background is like that of a one in a million Tony Romo.

 None of those guys you mentioned are NFL material.
Colt is not?
He is going to be paid millions by an NFL team but not be NFL material... Hmmm.

Kinda reminds me of the Matt Shaub situation.
A backup who flourished when traded and given a shot as the starter.
I like Castle if the price was right to b attle Hill and Smith for the position but I would rather draft a QB to go up against Hill and Smith.
What could make that better is if Dilfer would be the QB coach.
He is a HC in waiting IMO.

Matt Shuab showed flashes of being a good player when he started. What has Castle ever done?

I like a Smith vs Hill competition next year whil a player we draft (Josh Johnson) learns the pro game.

About as much as Hill did & now you want him to battle Smith for that starting spot.
My point is Castle, at the right price might be worth it because he has sat behind Brady a few years and has seen the CORRECT way of doing things.
What has Hill been subjected to?
It may be worth it if the price was right.

First Hill has at least started a game and won it. Castle threw 1 int and got benched in a blowout win. Second I never said I wanted him to start for us (I want P. Manning to start for us but thats not going to happen). I said I would like for him to compete with Alex for the spot next year.

ummm ya, so what's the difference of battling for a starting spot versus competing for a starting spot?
