The NFL Network, the league's own channel, will formally announce Monday that it will air about 62 hours of coverage meant to gear up viewers for its New England Patriots-New York Giants game Saturday night. The coverage will include re-airing six Patriots games in their entirety — and re-airing most of those games at least twice. It will break the network's current record for preview hype

I think that's quite ridiculous.

24 hours of pre-game hype would have been excessive, but 72 hours is just mind boggling.

It looks like the majority of it will be re-broadcasts' of games. It is just a tiny bit overkill.

Maybe a good portion of it will be dedicated to SpyGate. I mean, this is history in the making people, and I want to see them "earn" an unprecedented fourth tainted Lombardi trophy this year. Go Pats!

I am finding it increasingly difficult to not wish something really bad on the Pats. IMHO, them going 16-0 and all the hype and everything else is BAD for the NFL. It attracts the wrong kind of attention and sets the wrong precedents for the sport. Kinda like when MLB started obsessing over the long ball, and you see where that got them...

absolutely.. if let's say the 49ers or any other west coast team would be on the verge of history like that, would they do the same? i highly doubt it. its east coast bias run amok.

I agree. It makes almost every other game seem not so much worth watching.

I like it much better when more than just one or two teams have a chance to win it all.

Yeah because there are soooo many more NFL games on Saturday night, and as far as wanting more than two teams to have a chance at winning it all maybe teams need to pull their heads out of their collective asses and put a better product on the field then. If the Pats can do it so can everybody else. Trust me, I'm no Pats fan, but what they are doing this season is amazing. We as Niner fans are just upset because Jerry Rice's record is going down. Colts fans are mad because Manning's record is about to bite the dust, and Don Shula can STFU and have another drink.

The funniest thing about this thread is that if this was the Niners you would all be saying how freakin cool all of this coverage is.

The Giants are a overrated and soft team could possibly be a one and done team in the playoffs,i say the Pats will smack them at home to go 16-0

Last time I checked, it's the NFL network, not the Patriots Channel. Yeah, the 49er fans would be ridiculously happy with all the coverage if it were us, but the rest of the fans would hate our guts. There ARE other games, and so what if it's the only one on Saturday - they're going to cover the rest of them 4 hours Saturday night? No, they're just going to recap the **** game for those hours.

Holy crap. This is just getting out of hand. I couldn't even watch a basketball game today without hearing about the Pats. What do Jason Williams and Tom Brady have in common? I just wish they'd win the SB already or preferably lose so I can stop hearing about it. Every SportsCenter devotes half it's show to them already.

You probably won't even get a game. That's the worst thing about this all. How can they be hyping this game so much when it will be the Pats starters vs Giants backups?

Jerry Rice had 22 touchdowns in 12 games. Manning didn't play the last week of the season when he set the record and has more touchdowns than Tom Brady has even now. In my opinion, those records still stand. And they haven't even been broken yet, so...we don't know if they're "going down".

And if this was the 49ers, I'd think this was overkill. No team needs 62 straight hours of coverage. That's ridiculous.

Plus when Manning did it, his team actually needed the scores. Brady (slash Belichick) is just being a *****.

Edit: I can't believe that word is in the word filter.

More East Coast bull****e. It's a meaningless game for the Giants, so they will pull their starters relatively early, and the Patriots will keep theirs in trying to go undefeated and rub the NFL's face in the spygate scandal. I am a Brady supporter, so it's cool with me. The way I see it, in these pathetic times for the Niners at least there's a kid who grew up a Niners season ticketholder carrying on the legacy somewhere, just wish it was here.

But why? I've got to tip my hat to them. Many teams have gone 15-1, the Pats have a chance to be the only ones to make it to 16-0. I would want the 49ers to go for it if they were in a similar position, it's a chance at immortality. The Dolphins didn't pull any punches in '73 when they went 14-0 in the reg. season, and they've been riding that hype all the way to the present day. It is a huge, huge story that no one can stop that team this year. They will face plenty of competition in the AFC playoffs, so if they make it all they way to 19-0, you must give them their due. And I'm glad it's Brady doing it, not that NFL legacy kid Manning. Brady at least grew up a 49er fan, threw the football around the Candlestick parking lot going to games like the rest of us, and patterned his game after Montana. You can see it in everything he does on the field. If it's not the Niners doing this, at least it's a Niners fan.

Pats Fan

I am a Pats fan and I will only be watching the game. It is important to us, that is for sure. But, beyond that well, it is all just a bore.

Remember, it is the media that is creating this nonsense. They always do this about any subject -- politics, sports, etc. On and on, oh what a bore. I choose not to watch.

That does not change the fact that there is a game to be played. That is important to me. And I will be watching. Unfortunately, Gumbell will be one of the announcers. Oh, god forbid.

Sometimes I wish we had lost one game so these fools would be quiet.

But tomorrow if we win, yes I will be happy. But not as happy as if we win the SB. That is much more important.

So don't blame the Pats or Pat fans for the nonsense of the media. They are a force all unto themselves.
