On the kickoff, where it appeared it was going to be a late hit on the Pats, but instead it was on Toomer. Just wondering if I missed anything. Merriweather tripped over his own feet, Toomer appeared not to do anything. So i am wondering if that has been talked about and gone into farther details on why the flag was called. I thought this was what put the final nail in the coffin and have been wondering why the flag was thrown.

Obviously the NFL wanted the Patriots to go 16-0.

I'll be watching the Superbowl for the commercials this year.

No, it was just one of the many horrible calls of that game. I looked at it myself a few times and just burst out laughing. I've always laughed at the refs having an outside influence, but between last night and the Ravens game, it makes you wonder. I actually turned the game off not too long after that.

i skimmed some articles and this call isn't even being talked about. Hopefully Peter King will bring it up in his MMQ.

Nothing in MMQ. Either i am making too big of a deal out of it, or the league wants to just cover it up.

It was a bad call but you are making it into a big deal.

i thought that was the call that ended the game. Giants had a good kick off return, started getting a little momentum back and the call happened. The giants came out flat after that. I thought atleast we would get a reasoning on why the call happened, if there is a reason.

The game was over when Moss caught the deep TD. That deflated the Giants and gave the Pats the 4th quarter lead, which they never blow.

i disagree. That kickoff return got the fans back into it. Plus the idea of maybe getting that late hit(which was an ok non call), the fans were pumped. However, ending up losing 15 yards really killed the team.

The only reason given for the flag was "unsportsmanlike conduct." When they showed the replay, you can see Toomer walk up right next to the line judge, and though the camera angle is shot from behind Toomer, he seems to be moving his head around slightly as if speaking to the official in an animated way. It's very possible that Toomer had something to say about whether or not the hit was late, and if he said it in a profane enough fashion, he could have drawn an "unsportsmanlike conduct" flag. No way to know for sure without audio of the event.
