Rumors/dreams are dead.. Don't know if its been reported on here yet. That trade speculation is done. It was reported on espn that marvin lewis said chad johnson will not be traded. So if anyone was wishing on a star like myself, reality just struck.

DJ has appeared in 111 games.

Chad has appeared in 108 games.

Chad has far more receptions and yards.
DJ has one more career TD.

So if you were to break down # of TDs per receptions, DJ wins.

(dumb point, I know, but I found it funny).

The Cincinnati Bengals introduced Mike Zimmer as their newest defensive coordinator Wednesday, but just as noteworthy was coach Marvin Lewis reiterating that the team had no intention of trading mercurial wide receiver Chad Johnson.

Johnson expressed unhappiness with the Bengals' front office during his appearance last Friday on ESPN's "Mike & Mike in the Morning," saying "not too many people really having my back within."

This news does not really bother me at all for a couple of reasons.

A. I don’t think Chad would have fit in here or would have been good in the locker room
B. Even if he did hit the market I have no faith that we would have been able to land him.

FLNiner
01-17-2008, 04:15 PM
yea we had no interest in trading a lot of guys that ended up on other teams. If they do trade him they have to at least make people give up something for him they can't just come across like they want to unload him.

Darrell Jackson stats for 07: 46 catches for 497 yards

with Alex healthy and Shaun Hill at QB: 22 catches 280 yards in only 5 games

with Dilfer and seperated shoulder Smith and Weinke: 24 catches 217 in 10 games

do the math Jackson is a good receiver and just like Moss, when you get a QB who can throw the ball then you get a chance to prove yourself.

He could, and Jackson could get back to 60 and 1000, and davis could get up to 50 and 700. And the new rookie could be good. I'm just saying Chad Johnson is a legit #1 receiver in the NFL, and there aren't that many of them. If the Redskins are talking to find out what the cost is going to be, the 49ers should be to.

I'm not saying they should trade whatever it takes, but if it turns out the Redskins trade a 3rd this year and a 4th next year for him and the 49ers never even spoke to them, I'd be pissed. Never hurts to get in there and find out what the price is.

People love to say things like this.

News to people who want Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice, they are 1 in a million. Wide Receivers will always have big mouths, they are entirely dependent on other positions to give them even a chance to succeed and get noticed.

People love to say the Patriots know what they're doing and do everything right and every year they bring in a "problem child" and they conform and do well, it has a lot more to do with the coach and team leadership than the "problem child". You certainly can't have a team of problem children, but 1 or 2 big mouths don't hurt the team.

Chad Johnson doesn't tear apart his QB or his Line or his OC, he doesn't throw tantrums mid-game nor does he give up and take plays off. In fact he said nothing bad about anyone on the team until his head coach called him a poison for his "distractions" and tried to blame him for the team being mediocre because of a lack of defense.

Actually CJ does have fits on the field. They are not as publisized because, well, he plays for the Bungles. Not to mention, Carson Palmer doesn't feed the fire. I am by no means saying he isn't a very good WR. He just wouldn't fit well into our offense. Of course, I don't know if you can call what we have an offense but that is another topic.

Please tell me when Chad Johnson has ever thrown a fit on the field at the expense of a player or coach.

Chad is a tall, fast receiver with good hands who demands double teams, how would he not fit into any offense?

The Patriots game this year he was all in the face of Carson Palmer, while they were walking up the tunnel at halftime. Alex has enough trouble as it is, a player like Chad is not good for his already fragile psyche. Then again, Plaxico Burress was a whiny player until this year. Can Chad change it, I doubt it. Don't want him. It will be Owens-Garcia part two if you bring in Chad Johnson to work with Alex or Shaun.

i didn't actually see the game, so take this for what it's worth, but i heard that he threw a major fit when we played them this last season. i heard him and palmer were jawin'. or maybe it was one of the coaches. apparently he made a scene though. the bengal's board has many posts/threads on this. a lot of their fans are pretty sick of his attitude too.

he's a good receiver, but certainly not worth a 1st rounder IMO. if lewis really does think he's a cancer, then i could see him gone for a little less. housh and henry (of course he's got to be an angel from here on out) would make a fine receiving duo. housh can get deep, and is way more clutch.

Well, I wouldn't say as good as Moss, but I get your main point.

As I said in another thread, we could sign every WR available, but it won't make us better if the QB can't deliver the ball and the O-line can't protect the QB.

I totally agree but i didnt mean that he was as good as Moss i was just using him as an example becasue he had two awful seasons in Oakland cause the Radiers Suck! and then he went to New England where he got a chance to prove himself and he did.

I actually watched quite a few games where he was showing extreme displeasure with his QB. Of course he is an emotional player and that is not always a bad thing. However, how long do you think it would take for him to go off/show up Alex or whoever is at QB for us? Chad can play, there is NO DOUBT about that. He just is not the type of receiver that we need right now. Not to mention he would be triple covered every time he lined up so what good would he really be?

Maybe I should have used blue font for my statement for you to get my sarcasm. The fact is Chad Johnson is not the type of player I want to see line up for my favorite team. I would much rather have a Boldin/Owens type as far as talent goes.

I don't think Alex Smith has proven he can get the ball to an open man enough spend a corner, a safety, and a linebacker all on one guy. It'd be like the Raiders with Randy Moss.
