San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and tight end Antonio Gates will start in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots despite a sprained knee that kept him out of practice most of the week.
Rivers was on the field about two hours before kickoff, warming up for about five minutes before returning to the locker room.
Rivers returned to the practice field for the first time on Friday, handling about one-third of the snaps.
"I think honestly, given the magnitude of the game and given the situation, if I'm out there as I plan to be for the first snap and throughout the game, it won't have an effect at all," Rivers said on Friday.
Rivers was officially listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report and was considered a game-time decision by head coach Norv Turner.
Some Hope? :)
