NBC has done a great job of collecting some of my favorite sports commentators. They got John Madden and Al Michaels for the game play. They have Chris Collinsworth and Bob Costas for the studio stuff. I was not sure I was going to like NBC but the personnel they collected is sure helping and helping a lot.

Yeah it did. It was always the same song just with different wording. You would think they would change it up a bit.

the chick working the sideline was sub-par. Everything else was great.

They should get Maria Sansone (Yahoo! Sports) to do the sideline reporting. She's full of energy and is more enjoyable on the eyes.

Yeah she was. She was just plain horrible. It seemed like she was acting the whole time and badly at that.

If I've gotta watch some chick on the sideline, I wish she'd have a clue as to what she's talking about. I felt that chick didn't know squat about football. It's hard to NOT pay attention when she's on the screen talking to you.

My favorite station to watch the NFL is FOX. Joe Buck and Aikman are pretty good, but the reason why i love it is the special effect type things and the image seems to be the clearest. Also love J. Brown and T-Brad in the pre/post/halftime reports.

IMO the CBS station almost seems a bit fuzzy....i like the gumbles though.

I could do without the latter.

I'd like to see what Bettis has to say. Madden made some good comments, as well, just coincidentally after the injury.

Could the old stars, particularly from his era, not only start on 21st century rosters, but contribute to going all the way? And he seemed to think so.

It's one of those hypotheticals that no one can study or prove. But the difference is, he was there with the players, day in and day out - and is today. He's seen speed, strength, strength and conditioning programs, skill and heart. And he's saying this.

It seems a little more than a mere hypothetical to me. He seems to be saying that for 'bigger and faster', that the current players, on balance, don't have the heart of some on the older squads. And because of that, if the players then played the same, on rosters today, they would therefore be competitive. Or maybe that's not what he meant. Maybe he meant that 'bigger and stronger' is just not that much of an advantage over those with a natural ability, great skill and experience, and a lot of heart.

Brown left fox?????.....o no.....but I always liked Fox the best..Terry, Howie and JJ were always hilarious every week

perfect mix of humor and football

NBC is far better then ABC was and is already better then CBS...Madden and Micheals work well together...Costas is decent...not the greatest host per se...he just acts like he knows so much when he really doesnt...but for the most part im ok with him. Collinsworth is solid too...he knows the game better then most and the bus will probably be doing a tony siragusa type job as sideline informant or whatever he calls himself

CBS is just not good...commentators are boring and shannon sharpe is the most annoying organism on earth....i honestly dont care much for the AFC either ...maybe thats why too lol

I agree, the set up on CBS makes the game look crappy and even boring. Maybe its because im a fan of an NFC team, i dont know. The picture on CBS just looks dull.

They need to improve the picture quality in their high def presentation... Not bad, but not as good as ABC was. Maybe they didn't try too hard cause it was preseason, but I was pretty unimpressed. Hopefully it's just growing pains and they'll get it straightened out by regular season.

I have nothing really to add to this thread. I just feel it is my duty to toss in the fact that I hate Chris Collinsworth every time is name is brought up.

That's it.

They had better. If they don't the three left will get annoying quick. They need a level headed person that is more serious than the other three.

NBC did a great job. What a welcome relief from ABCESPN and all of their hover-cams, overly produced intros, Bon Jovi, Hank Williams, asinine over the top graphics, etc. You can actually concentrate on the game. That said, Fox is 100 times worse. I'll take CBS, NBC, or the NFL Network any day over that other crap.

Go 49ers.

I like when they show the Mad TV skits before games and T-Brad gets all pissed because the guy makes fun of him for being bald.

You did not just say CBS is better. CBS gives priority to the sponsors more than the game. They constantly advertise their shows while the game is playing. CBS is the worst NFL station. If any station should have lost there contract with the NFL it's CBS. I hate them so much. I hate it when the 9ers are playing an AFC team and CBS gets the broadcast.

Another thing CBS takes to long to go through the other games scores. They take like 2 minutes per game to go over fantasy stats before they go on to the next game. I want the scores, I don't care how many yards some guy has.

I don't disagree with your latter point about scores and fantasy stats, and I did not say CBS was better than NBC, but in fairness, every network is guilty of promoting their shows during broadcasts and slipping sponsor ads into game time coverage. That said, and I imagine this is personal preference, but I will take CBS over Fox or ABC anytime, largely because I like to watch football for the game, not for the clever, wannabe comedians and wise guys acting silly while the MTV reject producers shove endless animation, needless graphics (like those big, colorful first and 10 arrows that take up half the screen) and pop music or Hank Williams down our throats.

NBC did a great job.
Preseason game. But I was generally interested, particularly in Madden's comments at the end about - how would they play today who played back when?

I could do without the dueling broadcast teams. Find something else for Collingsworth to do. They I won't have to watch it.

Bocephus is great. I think Joe said it was his favorite tune, at least at one time.

I think people don't like Hank because they think he's just too aggressive. They don't like aggressive musicians, or aggressive players, etc. I'd take his intro theme to any other I've seen promoted - and they sure promoted a lot of them in those last few years at ABC.

asinine over the top graphics, etc. You can actually concentrate on the game.

The opening graphics were pretty good, at one point, on MNF.

But the complaint would have to be with the crew and staff. And it's not so different over on SNF, now. I thought they were a great and professional broadcasting crew, then. I think the same, now.

SUNDAY NIGHT!

I agree with everything you said about CBS, that station is an abomination when it comes to football games. it makes me sick to watch a game on that chanel when we play an AFC team. thank god CBS does AFC and fox does NFC. I don't know what it is but it just seems so dead and boring watching a game on that channel or like they are 10 years behind or something....
