Rams | P. Smith the No. 1 fullback
Sun, 6 Aug 2006 20:56:07 -0700
Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams FB Paul Smith is the team's No. 1 fullback over FB Madison Hedgecock, according to head coach Scott Linehan. Linehan added, "There's still very good competition between him and Madison, but he has a little more experience there than Madison."
I always liked Paul Smith, he was a solid player. Glad to see hes gonna be starting somewhere.

Never heard of him...
He was a FB drafted by the 49ers in 2000. He never stepped up though, and never showed what it took to become a starter. He was cut during roster cut downs in 2003.
Apparently he was pick up by Detroit, where he continued to be a back up.

OMG Paul Smith was picked to start OVER HEDEGCOCK?!?!? I LOVED PAUL SMITH when he was a Niner, but he never got a chance to play because he was behind Beasley. Then he went to Detroit where they usually had a 1-RB system, or were passing so much because they were behind all game.
Good to see Smith in a starting role. I LOVED THIS GUY!! He's like Terry Jackson, only bigger and tougher. Too bad it's with the Rams, but I wish him the very best!

Never heard of him...
He's a guy we drafted out of UTEP. He's was a straight-line runner who is too fragile to even be a significant-carry back-up. So, ironically, he was converted to fullback by Mooch.
He's a bit stiff, fragile and brings nothing particularly special to the table. OTOH, you can't fault his effort, hustle, etc. and you can absolutely count on him within his limitations and he'll never let you down with a half-hearted effort.
