Mike McAllister, of ESPN.com, reports Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson predicts he will rush for 2,000 yards in the upcoming 2008 season. "Oh, yeah, I set my bar high," he said this week, one of just four rookies (Patrick Willis, Joe Thomas and Nick Folk are the others) appearing in the Pro Bowl. "That's definitely where I'd like to start."

Well we all knows what happens when players start predicting stats.. Gore did it last year and look what happen..
So who do you think will get it first...
I sat Gore does.

AP just signed himself up for a high ankle sprain in week 2. When players start making predictions like that, injury is sure to follow.

Neither will. Not unless they add another game. 2000 yard seasons are extremely rare. I laugh everytime someone says someone can get it like it's a walk in the park. Especially since neither guy has much of a passing game to keep teams honest.

Teams will start crowding the line next year against the Vikings. AP better hope his QB comes around in a big hurry if he even wants to get 1,500.

Passing attacks aren't really the issue. The player just has to have one of those special seasons.

Didn't Steven Jackson predict a monster season in 2007 as well?

I wouldn't be surprised if he did, dude runs insane. I think he'll get around 1,400 next year, but I think he's definitely capable of eclipsing 2k in the near future.

He has never been able to stay healthy before, now he is just asking for a death wish.

AP didn't even get 1400 yards this season so it's ridiculous when they start talking about 2000.
Gore had the 1700 (ok..1695) season so it wasn't as ridiculous when he made the prediction.
Neither will get it though.

I agree I wouldn't be surprised at all. But when Chester Taylor is stealing carries its not even worth mentioning. But out of all the RB I think he will be the one to break ****erson's 1 year record.
LT could as well, but if they have a great season he gets less carries going into the playoffs, if they have secured a top spot.

adrian peterson should learn from Steven Jackson and Frank Gore to not make predictions like that

Who wants to bet Avatars? I bet he won't get it. I bet he won't get within 300 yards of 2,000.

I bet he won't get within 500 yards.
Your best bet to get someone to bet is one of the guys that look at stats to make decisions.
I don't think he will either, however I wouldn't bet avatars with a 500 yd cushion.

I think Peterson is going to have a terrible season, did anybody watch his last few games?, he couldn't run through the 9 men in the box, the Vikings passing attack is probally worse than ours, there QB throws 3 to 4 INTS a game, everybody is going to stack Peterson up. He was getting 30 yard games, he will probaly have what Frank Gore had this year, barely make it to 1,000 yards.
So he won't get withing 900 yards at least.

maybe you didn't notice his decline was due to the knee injury. he faced 9 in the box all season. barring an injury that robs him of most his season again like this past year, 1200+ yards is a lock for him.
But not 2K.

Answer these questions:
How will the Vikings keep defenses honest?
How do 7 players block 9?
Do you honestly think that Jackson has what it takes to keep defenses in 7 man box? People played cover-3 against him last year, even in passing situations.
I think that Jackson will improve and help create a more balanced attack.

That's one good lookin gal there.
I like my women to have no teeth.. and she looks like she fits the description.
To whoever said he will get it:
Peterson won't get 2000. It's so dumb to predict that seeing that so few players have done it. Also he only had 1300 or so yards which isn't too impressive and is far from 2000. He won't get it. Quote me if you'd like.

I'll bet you sigs for a week, while DN bets you the avatar.
Confused here. What exactly happens if I lose this bet? What do I have to do with my sig and avatar? :hoppy:

I'm not sure if AP was saying this, but I think Gore was just setting a goal. I think he was basically saying that "The sky's the limit", not really to set himself up for failure.

He gets injured, no matter how severe it is almost every year, he is just like Gore, plays through injuries, just not as good as they could be at full strength. He will get injured, probaly will be on the Madden cover. I he is on the Madden cover than iit is going to get gruesome, I don't want to look...
:ahh: > :thud: which = :pullhair: because he will be on my fantasy team!

Peterson doesn't have the durability to do 2k yards. Kid is an injury away from taking Kurt Warner's old grocery bagging job.
