#5 Maryland
My cousin originally signed and played for USC but after being burried on the depth charts behind Taylor Mays he we back home to the east coast and is now playing for Maryland. Nonetheless, ive loved the Terps as a basketball school for the longest of times. They aint exactly an ACC powerhouse when it comes to football but they do put out alot of good players.
#4 Virginia Tech
I play defense and i love the idea of Beamer Ball! Virginia Tech quietly is always in the top 25 and Frank Beamer is a good coach with tenure so you dont really have to worry about him bailing out on you and if that wasnt enough he puts out a nice amount of players.
#3 Texas
The Longhorns would be sort of a reach for me because i feel that they not only play in the most overrated rivalry in football but they play in the second most overrated conference next to the Big 10. With that said Texas is football country and i could definately live in a state where Winning State is more important to kids then anything else. Ive literally witnessed their entire defense turn pro over the last few years, not to mention the athletes.
#2 California
Cal would be third because as much as i love the team im picking #1, as much as i love Cal football and as much as i love Maryland basketball in a San Francisco kid and it hurts me to see that USF no longer has a football program. Its a shame that such a storied program would be cut like that but Cal is still a Bay Area school so i wouldnt have to leave home or home would definately be less then an hour away. Jeff Tedford is a very good coach, Not on the level of Frank Beamer but Cal is legit program year in and year out and they're i think less then 5 years away from winning a national title.
#1 Miami (Fl)
The perfect fit for me would be Miami. Florida, Like Texas and like California is football country but kind of puts out a different vibe. like i said, i play defense and names like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Dan Morgan, Jesse Armstead, Sean Taylor, Warren Sapp, Jerome Brown, DJ Williams, Johnathan Vilma, Jon Beason, etc. just open eyes. I love the brotherhood they show, ill never forget the MNF game after Sean Taylor's death when i seen Ed Reed, Willis McGahee and Ray Lewis tryna pull one out not to end the PAts run but rather for a "fallen brother." Randy Shannon is slowly but surely restoring "The U." You watch teams like Michigan and Ohio State just play physical football while LSU and other just play speed game but Miami plays fast and physical. Im hispanic and id be with alot of latinos out there. San Francisco is very diverse as is Miami not to mention my girl was born in Miami so you know i got something for the women out there.
bottom 5:
- Ohio State
Jim Tressel played my boy Mo Clarett like that, how could i ever trust him
- USC
Pete Carroll is a good coach and i got a world of love for my Fam in LA but i could never live there and id most likely end up backing up some all world linebacker like my cousin did.
- Florida
Im a die hard Miami fan. Put it this way, if Florida was my only offer id end up at CCSF like i am now.
- Nebraska
What exactly is there to do out there? Same goes for Wisconsin and Minnesota.
-LSU
i love the Tigers but Les Miles is a dumb ****. I got a lot of fam in New Orleans so Baton Rouge isnt too bad but until Les Miles gets the boot they can go **** themselves.

LSU is pure speed not physical wtf? I would say they where pretty much the most physical team in the country this past year and if their D wasn't dumb as rocks to get schooled by misdirection over and over they would have been undefeated.

The only position tOSU and UM where even close to lsu in "physicality" is rb and possibly lb. LSU schooled them both in speed and power on DL OL WR DB ... Thats from a UM fan.
Miami's D is usually pretty physical, but so is fsu. Miami's offense I really would never describe as such and the only description that fits their offense as late is terrible.

1.) Penn State: Grew up a diehard fan of the blue and white. If you've ever been at a game at Beaver Stadium you'd understand, you get fired up just being part of that crowd, I can only imagine what it would be like to play in front of that crowd. PSU isn't what it was through the 60's 70's 80's and 90's.....but, we are on our way back to the CFB "elite"....especially now that Morelli is gone.
2.) Oklahoma: I just love the Sooners.
3.) Ole Miss: The tradition that school has is unbelievable. Even if they are having some down years, I'd love to be a Rebel.
4.)Georgia: Just something about Georgia, I'd love to be a 'dawg.
5.) Va. Tech: Just to play for Frank Beamer, it'd be a cool experience. And they have cool uni's.
The only one I wouldn't even consider:
Pitt: Maybe because I'm a PSU fan(and most people that only got into football in the past 7-10 years won't remember, but these two schools LOATHED eachother when they used to play every year). Why anyone would want to go to that scumhole city Pittsburgh is beyond me. On top of the school being in a disgusting city, as a player you'd have to play in front of 20,000 fans because noone cares about the program. As a matter of fact, the few Pitt fans you find brag that they're something special, yet on a saturday in Pittsburgh in the fall, you see more PSU fans then Pitt fans. Also, those clowns won't play PSU because we would only agree to a 2 and 1(2 at beaver 1 at Heinz) and they thought we were lowballing them(we kind of were), but they should be jumping for joy PSU is even willing to come to Pitt, it'd be the only sellout they'd have at Heinz for years. And another thing..............1....2....3...4...5...woosah. Sorry about the rant fellas.

1.) Tennessee. I know its crazy to think I would pick them. The lovefest with football in Knoxville is insane. Also Tennessee runs a pro style of an offense and has had players go to the NFL. Downside is that you could sit on the bench for the first two years. And you never know when Fullmer is going to get the boot.
2.)Miami. Good weather, a ton of NFL players come from the U. And you will be on t.v. every week. Downside is playing time because of everyone wanting to play for the Canes.
3.)Florida. Same pros and cons like with Miami. But you get to play in the SEC and prove yourself to the scouts. Also you can always go back to gainsville after you stint in the NFL, someone there will find you a job.
4.) Texas. Austin is a crazy town. And the fans are never hostil twards the coach so you are going to get coached up by a guy who has had plenty of his players go to the NFL. Playing time would be a factor.
5.) Vanderbelt. A great school. Nashville is a good town to live in. you will get playing time and play in the SEC. Downside is you are going to lose almost every game in the SEC. But you will have that diploma from Vandy in your back pocket.
The schools I would never go to. Ole Miss, Ohio State (its too cold and you lose in the NC game), Nebraska.

If I played Offense:
1. Oklahoma Sooners: My favorite team, great players, good coaching staff.
2. Georgia Bulldogs: A Young up & coming team, with great talent and potential.
3. Auburn Tigers: Even with the spread offense, live the uniform & its an SEC team. I would love to play in that atmosphere.
4. Florida Gators: Dunno Why
5. Texas Tech: Cool uniforms, an offensive-mid at HC.
Defense:
1. Oklahoma Sooners: See above
2. USC: A Top ranked team with great defensive talent.
3. Ohio State: Cornerback U
4. Penn State: Lineback U
5. Texas Longhorns: resistant about this one but, they got a great coaching staff especially with Muschamp.
Never go to:
Any WAC Team (especially with Boise State).
Oregon.

Auburn, UGA, Tennesse, Oregon, LSU
Auburn first because i have loved them since i started watching football, mostly SEC schools because it would be cool to play in the atmosphere. And Oregon because i acutally like the 1,000 uniforms they get to wear. Start a collection of jerseys.

Interesting that not one person has chosen a school based on getting an education as well.
I guess that's why the concept of a "student-athlete" is a joke.

I'd replace Cal with USC simply because they get their athletes ready for the pro's better, both physically and skill wise.
It's a fun school if you go there, you'll have a blast in that area, but SC's track record speaks for itself.

i have a big bias, as im a university of washington student. but if you want a physical offense then UW definitely is the top. Locker will run you over as a defender, doesn't matter if your d-line or secondary. we have always had big physical receivers, Marcel Reese as example. and a power run game. course UW also has the 2nd engineering department in the country as well as the number ONE medical school as of last spring. thats not to say that we are not solid in all other departments as well, but those are the two big departments people look at. Weather is awesome, a little rain for 15 minutes almost everyday but thats about it. never above 75 or below 30. usually stays high 40's to low 50's. seattle is truely an amazing place as well.
only negative going, our defense sucks still. hopefully turn that around and start winning the close games.

If I was a top recruit, my top 5 would probably be:
Florida State
Penn State
UCLA
Georgia
VT
Main things I look for in a school are what they offer, location/atmosphere/setting of school, and the depth chart.
I want to have fun in school, get an education, and at least a 3 year starter.

look where they play, in the SEC. Not exactly the biggest, strongest dudes out there. The SEC is a speed league and the Big 10 is a straight power/bull rush league, idc what anybody says. Miami's Defense has always been wayyyyy more physical then LSU's.yeah good point, VA beat them 48-0 in their last home game ever at the OB. great defense.lol, besides the SEC would destroy anyone in the Big/little Ten conference. or any other for that matter.

I hate USC man. i got love for them, i dont hate them like i do the Dodgers, Lakers and Cowboys but i dont like them. Im a Bay Area kid and as much hype as Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson had there was nothing better and more entertaining to me then seeing Marshawn Lynch shake his dreads, throw up North Oakland and spin donuts on the injury cart. i grew up going to Cal games, my girlfriend is from Richmond, Ca which is like 5-10 mins from there and lives in Berkeley. One of my now JUCO teammates whom i also knew in H.S. was a top 30 recruit and was the #3 LB in America in 2006 when we graduated and i can just remember him sitting at the table with 3 hats: USC, Miami (Fl) and Cal. First hat the knocked off was Cal and that's when i knew he was going to **** up and pick USC and sure he did.
I watched my own cousin, my own flesh and blood play in the Army All-American game in 2006 and end up with that stupid USC hat on too and i wanted to cry. What i wouldnt give to be in these dudes positions and they were just throwing their lives away.
someone pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee tell me where Antwine Perez and Joshua Tatum are now??? My cousin (Perez) is at Maryland and my homie (Tatum) is at CCSF with me. He both picked like Miami like i told them to they'd be playing for a coach who was a monster himself and starting.
Man i went head up with Ako Poti everyday of my high school career leading up to his senior/ my junior season. Perfect example of a guy who maximized his potential at Juco, Ako had good grades and a high SAT score coming outta H.S. but his best offer was San Jose State. Played 2 years for CCSF and became the first JUCO transfer to attend penn state since the mid-80's
I'm a big Marshawn Lynch fan, I even know some of the dudes who played their last year, they're all pretty cool guys for the most part.
But you're asking where I would go if I was a top recruit, and the fact of the matter is that USC does a better job of making athletes into pro's than Cal does; if I'm a TOP recruit, I'm thinking of the college of my choice as a stepping stone for my pro career before anything.

jigga, what position do you play?
you wanna factor that in with all the other things too. you wouldn't want to go to a school thats stacked at your position. i think you know that though, as your cousin had it happen to him at USC... how long you been at CCSF? i played at West Valley 2 seasons ago. the year after larry grant left. i laugh every time i see him absolutely destroy our garbage QB on youtube.
as for my choices.. im a huge michigan fan and my dream woulda been to play in the big house so thats my obvious number one, but you don't seem to like the big ten so thats out the window.
i like your choice with the U.. great football program, but like someone said, you should also be thinking about your education. **** happens man, you could have a career ending injury or something and without a degree what do you do? im kinda talkin outta my *** cause im not sure about this but miami isnt known to be that good of a school for education is it?
cal is, like you said, a couple years from contending for a national championship and they are very good academically. two upsides there.
oregon is a great school and has a great football program, with the best facilities in college sports. and i know you'll feel me on this one, those UNIFORMS. oregon is worth going to just for the uni's imo haha.
for the fifth school man.. i dunno. texas would be pretty **** legit.. good school with a consistently good football program. i've never been a fan of the heat and texas is killer on that. overall though.. texas would be a good choice too.

My biggest deciding factor would be on the coach of the school. And then combine that with how much I like the school itself and the location. THEN the chances of pro. If I'm really as good as I think I am I shouldn't have to worry about the school having competition for me.
Schools I would seriously consider based on the HC's there:
Rutgers, Greg Schiano is a great coach and as an up and coming program plenty of chances to get national exposure. Also you'd be close to New York and Philadelphia and DC. Another added plus is you could probably dominate in the Big East and not have to worry a whole lot about competition if you were concerned about such things....
Alabama. Major prestige and tradition in the SEC. Saban is a tough coach but he's coached in the NFL and won a national title. If you do what he says he'll make you a better player. Also it would be awesome to contribute to rebuilding Bama into a national power. And again not a whole lot of competition as of yet since he's early in his tenure and under Shula they were under probation.
Stanford. I think Jim Harbaugh is going to turn around that defunct program. You'd get a first class education playing in a good conference and would probably get to play right away. Again I like the idea of contributing to trying to rebuild a storied program.
Cal. Jeff Tedford another great college coach. Another school where you would get a good education (at least on paper, I know a lot of people who've gone there who have complained about the school). Another up and coming program with attempts to rebuild a legacy that years ago was very good.
Florida. Personally I'm not a huge huge fan of Urban Meyer, but I am a huge fan of the Florida Gators. Plus I'd imagine it'd be pretty **** fun to play your home games in a raucous place like the Swamp. I would rather play for Spurrier but I'm not sure I'd like South Carolina.....
Another School I would strongly consider is North Carolina. Chapel Hill is a gorgeous place, and they're another program attempting to rebuild under a very good, respected college coach in Butch Davis who also has pro experience. I expect they'll be a pretty good program on the rise in the next 2 years or so.
I wouldn't go to USC, I absolutely hate the area around there and couldn't stand going to school in such a ugly setting. That place is a dump.
I'd probably strongly consider UCLA though. Neuheisel can actually coach unlike Dorrell, and Walker seems like an awesome DC. And the girls at UCLA :) The campus is beautiful too.
