The Colts cleared close to $8 million in cap room Wednesday by releasing defensive tackle Anthony "Booger" McFarland.

nope, another one of those deals were if we were to sign it would be for cheap, and he would probably be the other de opposite sopo. if we actually did do this i wout ****** myself, our d-line would be huge.

WTF? He must be pretty hurt, they gave up a second rounder for that guy 2 years ago.

Easily one of the juiciest release lists I have seen in a while...

Can care less about McFarland. He's 6'0" and 300 lbs, so was Anthony Adams. Except he's off a knee injury and 31 and hasn't been an impact guy for a few years now. No interest. Besides, he will get bigger offers on what is now a DT market dry of starting talent. He can be an impact 2nd/3rd DT on many clubs.

Morris, now THAT is a Ted ILB. Too bad he's banged up and is going onto 33.

Merz - Was drafted in the SEVENTH round. Nice research there ESPN.

Roye - Going well into his mid 30s now and after 2 very weak and injury riddled years, may retire. But he's one of the very few 3-4 DE's out there. I'd honestly consider signing him to a 1M, 1-year deal to be this years Travis Hall type of guy.

Spires - If this team really is trying to make a bold 3-4 to 4-3 switch in one offseason, Spires would be a good key. Just last year in 2006, 51 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 PDs at his age. We have Oliver who could be our run stopper specialist, and Justin smith can hold his own on almost all downs. But Spires could be a very good LDE pass rusher specialist for us. Not a 10-sack type of guy but someone who can get 4-6 sacks is an improvement for us.

You say that as if Justin Smith is already signed...know something we don't?

I really had no idea we were set at NT.

But McFarland missed all of 2007 with injury. It's hard to say if he could play at a high level again.
