Who's offering him more?
I really think 3yr 20mil is too much for him...

It means the Browns have to tender him, which gives him a chance to start this year and be an UFA next year. I'm sure he wants to eventually land a Matt Schaub type deal.

I'm assuming he has something better then a 1 year tender... because he knows 1 slip up... get benched and he can end up sitting behind Quinn...
I think he should jump on the best multi year contract he can get now...
maybe I'm too much of a skeptic but veterans that all of a sudden show a little flash scares me... *cough* Hill *cough*

That's not the way tenders work. It's a 2.5million 1 year contract for 1st and 3rd compensation.

right... so that means someone would have to give up that 1st and 3rd... which means someone would have to give that up and probably a better contract than he's being offered...

He'll stay with the Browns, no one in their right mind would pay that much for someone who has had one year of good play.

I just don't get why he didn't jump on that 3yr 20mil deal they offered him... is there a better offer out there... or is his agent about to give him bad advice?

Jesus John Clayton is stupid, he just said the Browns have 2 "great" Quarterbacks in Anderson and Quinn. Apparently Quinn is a great Quarterback. :falldownlaugh: **** even Anderson isn't one.

That IS a premature comment. It does stand to reason they have a big decision to make though...Quinn was expected to be starting this year until DA blew up.

No one this year becasue they cant, he'll only be a RFA, not UFA. If he performes like he did last year this year and still does not have a long term contract you can bet he'll command far more than CLE is offering up at the moment.

Correct, to sum up the points
A) I think he and everyone know that no one is going to offer 1st and 3rd and a hefty contract for him. Yes, the hefty contract would be necessary as anything affordable the Browns will just keep him.
B) He's not giving up 20 million by turning down 3 years 20 million, he's only giving up the few million guaranteed difference for the chance to land a much larger deal the next year if he plays well, and a similar deal if he plays poorly.
C) If he goes to UFA he can choose where he goes to play, if he signs the 3 year deal you can bet he will be traded before the end of it to somewhere he might not want to play for.
All in all, he's making the right decision to take the tender and try to fetch a big deal now or hit FA next year.
He should stay put.
If someone has his ear it would be Carolina imo.
