I remember our fans whining exactly the same way when we didn't sign Rice in 2005.

In Oakland...

2001 - 16 games, 83 catches, 1,139 yards, 9 TDs
2002 - 16 games, 92 catches, 1,211 yards, 7 TDs
2003 - 16 games, 63 catches, 869 yards, 2 TDs (TD total is surprising)

Yeah, I'm sure the Niners could do without THAT kind of production :whistling:

They should also be devestated about playing in a stadium that resembles a shopping mall!!:hoppy:

Imagine if someone were to post some of the stuff mountainman says about Robinson or posts what BTG says about ANYTHING. They would think the entire 49ers fanbase is on crack too.

The first thread is from 2006. Even if you didn't read the dates on the posts, you only had to read down to "current cba standoff" to realise...

They brought it back when he got cut again. It picks up in 2008 on page 2...

I heard whispers out of STL a week ago that contract extension talks were not going well but according to that radio show, if they're right about Bruce's demands, then the Rams are complete and utter idiots at the top.

Give him a 1M salary, add a guaranteed roster bonus of 3M, and turn the 4M left into a bonus over a 2-year extension. Then give him 1.5M and 2M salaries with 50k reporting and workout bonuses. Simple. The team slashes almost 3M fgrom his cap number. Then his 2009 cap number would be under 3M, even with 2 bonuses and under 3.5M in 2010.

The guy is a future hall of famer, a big name and face on an offense that dominated the late '90s to early '00s in the league, and he's right, he's been a gamer for them. He restructred when asked, he gave a hometown discount too. The Rams in fact lost a LOT of player credit on their roster and you know what, everyone predicted that. Articles were out in January about his situation and how the Rams HAD to get even a minor 1 or 2 year deal done at all costs.

You know what's worse? They could've agreed to postpone bonus payments to give more time to work out a simple structure. Instead the team axed him as soon as they could. Now, predictably, he is scurrying right back to Martz in SF where he will likely grab a deal at least on part with what he could've gotten in STL.

Same structure too:
Year 1: 1M salary, 2M guaranteed roster bonus, 3.6M to sign, 1M in LTBE incentives. That's a 5.2M cap charge for the season, hopefully 1M of it doesn't get earned.
Year 2: 2M salary, 1M guaranteed roster bonus, 100k across a reporting and workout bonus. 3.1M cap charge, and if he doesn't hit his year 1 incentives, it's more like only 2.1M, dirt cheap.
Year 3: 2.5 salary, 100k in just the reporting bonus. 3.8M cap charge.

If that's honestly a deal he would've taken in STL (i.e. give me the 8M this year, I'll play minimum for the rest of my career) then this one gets him 7.6M in year 1 alone, another 3M in year 2. And if he beats his yardage marks from last year, we'll happily drop the 1M on him.

Who here wouldn't sign for a team wearing pink uniforms for $3 million p.a.??? Even if they were some sort of arch-nemesis...
