Some people on 49erswebzone are saying this and they have their own thread on it?

They say it frees up cap space this year so they could sign Deangelo Hall. That is a crazy amount nonetheless.

Im just trying to figure out where are they getting the cap space for all these signings. I thought they had less than 20 million in cap space but then they signed Tommy Kelly, Javon Walker, Gibril Wilson, and Kwame Harris to hefty contracts.

Javon Walker- 6yr/$55M

Outrageous!!! :thud: That franchise will drop dead soon. Remember they also signed Jamrcus Russel to a huge deal, almost as big as him!
And how will they afford the number 4 pick overall???? They will have to really try to trade down!!! I hope teams don't trade like they did to us in 2005 number 1 overall, just so they can suffer!!!

Not only is Al spending alot but he is not getting quality players for his money All these guys except for Nnamdi is over the Hill (Walker) or overrated (Hall).

OMG I forgot about that in 09 the owners will vote on of they want it back or not, and Jerry Jones and rich owners don't want it. S H I T!

Maybe.

They are meshing together a free agent team, they have to build a team like bond and hope it works out, cuz just meshing doesn't always work. Also their o-line is going to suck with Kwame Harris and Jamarcus Russel was a bust as soon as I heard about him. Especially with that o-line!

I think the cap will stay. There are more cheap owners than there are money spending ones.

If an agreement is not met within the next 2 years between the players union and the owners then yeah there could be no salary cap in 2 years but if Al Davis is banking on that happening and there is an agreement and a salary cap then the Raiders are screwed.

I did a google search, and I don't see a single mention of this contract.

Unless some one can come up with a link, sounds like baloney.

Something is seriously fishy in Raider land. No way do they legally have that much cap room. They have to be cooking the books some way...

Clayton said they are currently about $19 million over the cap. They are allowed to be over the cap as long as the first day of the regular season has not begun yet.

Maybe they are banking on the salary cap being gone in 3 years. Who knows what Al Davis is thinking?

Yeah they are really overpaying those guys who might not even be good anymore, i don't think that they are looking into what they are buying and that they are picking players for what they used to be or should have been.

Right now we are the opposite of the Raiders, we are going thruogh slowly and carefully seeing if these guys fit our team. Funny maybe they do do that, Kwmae Harris is s h i t y ness goes well with the rest of their o-line!
