The only real threats i see Groves being taken is by the Cardinals, which is a huge reach to pick him that early and the Jaguars but they need a DT and a DE not a former 230 pound DE who is trying to convert to LB. Pitts need help on offensive line, and they picked an OLB last year with their first so i don't see that happening.
With the second pick I see us possibly getting Pat Sims(defensive lineman), or an Offensive lineman. Scot has already said that this is a deep draft of Oline so we can get a quality olinemen in rd 3 or 4. So getting a defensive lineman isn't so unlikely in the 3rd or 2nd round.

You contradicted yourself a little bit but I see what you are saying it really depends on where the olinemen start falling, I think it would be foolish to take Groves in the first 20 picks personally so I doubt the Cardinals will take him and maybe the Steelers didnt resign Faneca because they feel his spot is replaceable by someone on the roster, keep in mind Keith Rivers is the best OLB in the draft not Groves and that is another reason I see him making it to #29 Groves is really the 3rd maybe 4th best LB in the draft so Groves being at 29 should not surprise anyone Jacksonville might be a threat to take him but lik you said they are probably going to go after a lineman.

your new so i wont flame you too bad,but there are a ton of other threads you could have posted this in.
anyway, the cards i doubt would even think about taking him with the running back and cornerbacks issues they have

I think Jacksonville wants him at 26 also, couple other teams that are in love with speed might pick him up.

keep telling yourself that
I will as well as he.
They really need a RB and their o-line is okay, but could still use some improvement. Corner back would be great for them, they have Rod Hood, now that Antrel has moved to S they need another corner. OLB in the 3-4 is a good second round pick for them. :ok:

They are going to take him because he has dreadlocks!
(Goes with the rest of their defense)

everybody is acting like groves is an elite player in this year's draft and there's no way he is gonna fall to us. if you actually followed college football, you'd know that he had an average season because he was trying to learn a new position right off the bat after getting injured. he has good workout numbers yes, but he is still very raw, and he overpursues. he doesn't have a great motor and he's undersized. his burst off the line is only average and he doesn't have many pass rushing moves. he is talented, but there are more valuable DE's out there and it is absolutely possible that he falls to us at #29. it's not that i don't like him as a prospect, but he's not the elite pass rusher that some people are making out to be just yet

That is why we aren't using him as a defensive end. We are looking at him as a pass rushing OLB.

He's right. The cards won't pass on a running back.

if groves is gone by the 29th pick, we could pick up cliff avril in the 2nd and pick cherilus in the first. avril is an intriguing prospect that could end up being even better than groves. what i like about him is his non-stop motor and near-elite speed and burst.

I don't want Cherilus in the first. If he's there in the 2nd, then yeah. If Groves is gone at 29, and there's no major surprise available, I'd be tempted to move back. I'm liking Carl Nicks somewhere in the 2nd round.

with nicks recent troubles i would be very suprised if he goes that high,i think we can still get him in the 3rd,maybe even 4th now.but your right about moving back if groves is gone.i would love to pick up another 2nd and 3rd for it

the age doesn't bother me - 25 means he's ready to play against veterans, and if you get him from 25 to say 32 those are solid years. The off-field issue was a loud party from what I read where guys didn't disperse. not a big warning sign to me. I think most mocks have him going in the 2nd. I just like his size and athetlicism.

How does him being 25 make him able to play against veterans? He's a raw talent that is originally a DT.
So, please answer me, how does being 25 help him? He has yet to play against pros just as well as someone who is 21 or 22.
I said it doesn't bother me. many 21 yr old lineman coming out of college get the "need to continue to fill out" comment, so a 25 yr old theoretically wouldn't have that issue. there is just more than one way to look at it is all. If you don't like him, just say so.
