Which receiver would you pick if Earl Bennett, Andre Caldwell, Early Doucet, or Donnie Avery are available in the draft?

earl bennett he is easily the most polished receiver in the draft and he could probably be a starter in his first year.

Donnie Avery or Eddie Royal, I prefer Avery though. The rest of them I have no interest in...

A lot of talk at least that I have heard is around tall WR that can be red zone impact guys. None of the guys listed are that type. I would have to say either Bennett or Doucet. I'm not big on Gator WR they seem to have a hard time making the next step. Riedel Anthony, Ike Hilliard, Gaffney, Chad Jackson. None of them have really made an impact at the next level.
One guy that intrests me is Todd Blythe of Iowa State. I haven't seen much of him but when I did he seemed to make plays. I think he could be a red zone threat since he's 6-5, 6-6 and he will probably be a 7th rounder or undrafted FA. Maybe someone can drop some more info on him?

Ok so he may be the next JJ Stokes but comparisons to Boldin and Plax have me interested. Especially if we can get him late in the draft. Although he might not be what Martz is looking for.

I think I would rather go with Urrutia in the 7th for that tall redzone receiver..
Urrutia had some injuries that hampered his production and playing time, but if I'm going to throw a 7th pick at a guy like this, I'd rather go with a guy a little taller, better vertical, faster and heavier 232lbs...
In fact, people should make a side by side comparison of Hardy a day one pick and Urrutia a 7th round pick... there isn't much difference between the two for the value. Bear in mind that the redzone is only 20yds down field to the endzone compare their speeds in that range...

Good call I like Urrutia's upside too. Some interesting prospects in the later rounds this year.

Donnie Avery or Eddie Royal. Maybe William Franklin in later rounds.

Big difference is Hardy dominated when he played and Urrutia didn't do great. Also Urrutia still has a lot to learn and should have stayed another year, while Hardy already knows how to use his physical advantages and is ready for the NFL. Also Urrutia is a lot slower with 4.65 speed. He has Dwayne Jarret speed, Hardy has 4.45 speed. Urrutia is taller I think, or that may be the other tall kid Marcus Monk who is also like Urrutia, Hardy has way better all around skills and dsn't get injured, he can actually be something more than just a red zone target. Urutia's coaches even said tht he should have stayed a year and that they are dissapointed in his descision. You think hardy would need work on, Urrutia is a lot worse.
Hardy was a star basketball player coming to INDIANA (a great basketball school) on a schloarship that is saying a lot, and he is very athletic.
If we were just looking for a guy for the redzone than yeah go ahead get Urrutia, but I think it would be a lot better to get a taller guy who can be an all around threat redzone and deep, like Plaxico Burress is.

IMO Hardy in the 1st or 2nd round, compared to Urrutia in the 7th, Hardy isn't worth the pick for that extra 40yd speed. Specially, since we have speed on the team now and can get more in the 3rd round in Avery, Royal and Franklin. Hardy isn't a big enough difference maker, to warrant spending the pick that it will require to get him.
But, then I don't think we should draft a receiver on day one anyway..
Oh, Urrutia has also been compared to Plaxico Burress...

bylthe is a stud.his numbers would be so much better if he had a half way decent qb throwing him the ball.he can out jump almost any cb in the nation.is a huge red zone target and has great hands.i would love to see the niners take a 7th round flier on him.could be worth it in the long run,ed mc type of player

Earl Bennett is the most NFL ready receiver, runs great routes, and fits Martz's system.

No need for a tall WR, niners should use their TE's Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker for Red Zone situations.

it would be down to doucet and bennett for me. i would probably take bennett because he has less question marks and produced on a team with much less supporting talent.

I think the Niners are just going after big WRs, not necessarily tall, just big WRs, that can or at least have the abiltity to (even if they don't use it) to block downfield for Gore. By big WRs that usually means 6'1" and 200 plus. Bryant Johnson is a great example, and Issac Bruce is capable of blocking, he just won't be as good as other bigger WRs at blocking. Bruce is here so he can be a mentor for two seasons for other WRs, coincidnece Martz signed a two year deal, Nolan has two years left on his contract...
Devin Thomas would be perfect fit, but he won't fall to us, as he is getting overhyped now.
I don't see us going after small WRs (martz WRs) in this draft. We just aren't. Mcloughan said that we are trying to run a ball control offense. Relying on our defense to hold down opponents to low scores while we pound the ball and run the clock. Pounding the ball works better with downfield blockers. I'm sure Martz will have a twist on this "ball control" offense. The Ravens run/used to run a ball control offense. Usually ball control offenses lack a passing game, due to bad WRs and bad QB, but imagine a ball contol team that actually can pass very effectively and deep downfield. That is what Martz is bringing.

at the same spot? Doucet... but if I can have Avery later that'd be my pick... even Bennet a round later than Doucet

Doucet or Bennett. I don't like either of the other ones. Mind you I don't like Doucet or Bennett.
