If we still had our 1st round pick, who would we have gone for? I know it is irrelevant, but I am curious what the MB has to say..
Meant 7th..sorry..

you mean Pick #7.

dont u mean 7? and if we were to pick that hight this year.. we would probly get a stud OLB.. or even McFadden if he fell to us.. yeah i kno its not a need but he would probly be BPA at that point.. or pick up an OL If Long fell to us at 7 Doubt it but if he fell we would pick him up.. or if any of the stud DT/DE's were there we would pick them up! i mean picking 7th overall gives us soo many options.. specially when there are soo many stud guys out there to be plucked in the top 15 in the draft!!

In my mock, there really wouldn't have been anyone truly awe-inspiring at #7. I'd probably recommend trading down. The best prospects at that point would have been the top corner (whoever you feel that is-it's debatable), Harvey, Williams or Clady (both of which are pure ZBS LT's).

Gholston, Ellis, Dorsey or Harvey. Dorsey probably wouldn't drop though after his pro day.

it's hard to tell. theres very good talent at ALOT of different positions to choose from.
it would be BPA + needed positon most likely. or we would trade for a couple 2nd rounders, or maybe would just set ourselves up for next year. :phone:
man, we would be like a fat kid in a candy store :bday2: :hatwave:

Most likely would have been Clady since we wouldn't have had Staley, alternately Gholston.

We probably would have gotten Ugoh though. My guess as to who we would have taken if we had #7 is Gholston.

True...
though honestly I'd rather have Staley + Groves (assuming he falls to us )
than Ugoh + Gholston

Now I think about it, hell yeah Groves and Staley sounds a lot better than ugoh and Gholston.
Personally,IMO I think that Vernon Gholston will be a bust. He had a great workout warrior performance. He played well in College, but in the Big 10. The Big 10 is a little slower than other conferences. Groves is from the SEC, which boasts the fastest football players and most likely ready for NFL speed. Groves excelled in the SEC which is even better. i think Groves had been really underated lately, i haven't seen him in any mock drafts by "pro scouts" in the fisrt round. People like/Such as Vic Carruchi (sp.) and Mike Mayock. It is almost as if Groves had been under the radar and Gholston is taking all of the attantion. I personally think groves will have a better career than Gholston. Staley played well for a rookie at RT, now he has been moved to LT his natural spot, and with a year under his belt, he will look way better than last season. Which is great cause he didn't do bad last season. He ofeten went up against some of the best DEs too, it amazed me. He had to go against Michael Strahan, Leonard Little, the Saints DEs, etc...
I think he has had one of the best learning experiences you can get taking on some great DEs already. now he should play better on the left side because he is more comfortable there and he should easily handle the good DEs and lower and know how to deal with some of the great DEs in the NFL.

Sedrick Ellis is my best guess... he would be the BPA.
Not that I don't like Gholston, but I don't think there is much drop off at all between him and Groves, who may be there at #29

Derrick Harvey, Vernon Gholston, Chris Long, Ryan Clady, Sedrick Ellis. Whoever was there.

i think there is a huge drop off between the 2,thats why your not hearing about groves in the top 10.gholston is a beast, and will have a pro bowl career in the nfl.im just praying that if the niners pick up groves he can come close to gholston's numbers.

Yes, behold the awesome speed of the SEC!!! I can tell you watch a lot of ESPN, but don't do any real thinking on your own. Your SEC argument is ridiculous.

ONE SEC PLAYER, THAT'S IT. John Abraham, who hails from the mightiest SEC school of them all, the South Carolina Gamecocks!
Gholston will be a beast. I seem to recall people thinking that Mario Williams was just a workout warrior, how did that turn out? Also, Gholston wreaked havoc against the #1 rated OT in this year's draft. Don't believe the hype from the self-proclaimed "Worldwide Leader in Sports."
