I would love this draft. We address our oline, we get a top rated receiver, and a pass rusher.

Reggie Smith drops to the 3rd? Wow, I'd take him in the early second.

I like it, though the lack of a decent d-line prospect worries me a little but o-line will be well stregthend with this draft.
No 5th round pick sucks though!!!!!

I like Greco a lil more than a like Cousins in the third mainly because hes not as raw and could immediate challenge for spots at RT and G

I like the alternative version, Cherilus in the first and Groves in the second. Doubtful, but amazing if it happened. Would fill two huge needs.

Best mock draft I've seen yet. Realistic AND very good for us. However, I'd rather take Sam Baker than Malcolm Kelly if he's available there...then we could take Reggie Smith in O'Neil Cousins' place.

I'm not a big Groves fan but if the CBs and OTs fly off the board, he could very well end up being the BPA so late in the 1st.
I like the idea of Cousins in the 3rd if we can't get a top-2 round OT and I love the McGlynn pick, had him in my first mock draft. Cousins may need a full year to be a RT for us but we could possibly have that space for him. Either way those are 2 solid, very well-valued OL picks to add to our need for depth.
Kelly in the 2nd? Don't make me puke. Seriously, how does a tall, slow WR with the angry personality and desperation of Kelly fit our offense? Martz works best with guys who are 5'10"-6' who have better playing speed and open field agility. Sure he has had success with Williams, throwing to him a billion times a game in DET. But overall, he needs fast WRs so he can attack deep with any combo on the field and he likes them smart too. Kelly's highlight reel features him being wide open half the time versus bad coverage and being blanketed by good CBs. Outside of putting on a lot of weight, this kid stinks of the next Mike Williams, I wouldn't touch him with anything short of our 3rd rounder.
What I really hate is Kelly and also spending a 6th on an OC. Look, even if we trash Jennings, we have 4 starters. We also have Duckett and Wragge as backups that should stick. If you bring in Cousins and McGlynn we've got an OT and backup OG/C already. That's 8 linemen. Wragge can easily play LG/C. If we keep Jennings, no 6th rounder will stick to our roster as a 10th OL who will ever see the light of day. It's not effective competition in my book. I'm happy with Cousins and McGlynn, I'd be happier if we extended Heitmann 2-3 more years and spent a 4th rounder in 2009 on a quality backup to develop, not a 6th round stab.

If you started out that way ,1-2, I'd be impressed and happy myself. Especially because I think we can instead spend that 3rd rounder on a better WR value and fit.

As soon as I saw Malcolm Kelly I not only left, but I bathed myself in gasoline.

I agree, they're not drafting 3 lineman.
I still see the line shaping up as
Staley-Snyder-Heitman-Bass-Jennings
Backup T - Rookie A
Backup G/C - Wragge, Rookie B
Wragge is an excellent backup, and I hope he stays that way.
Duckett I think will get cut in the last cut and practice squaded. With the deep lineman draft and getting cut so late, I doubt anyone else will add him to their active roster.
I most definitely do NOT want them to extend Heitman until they see how he does in the first half of the 2008 season. I think his best aspect would be that if they are able to draft a more natural C this year and Heitman plays well, they can extend him and move him back to guard. Whomever is the odd man out in the guard battle can be cut or kept as a backup G/T.
Basically for the future, if things pan out
Staley-(Snyder/Heitman)-2008 Rookie-(Bass/Heitman)-2008 Rookie
Backup C - Wragge
Backup G - Wragge, 2009 Rookie or 2009 FA or Bass or Snyder or Heitman
Backup T - Duckett( if he develops) or 2009 Rookie or 2009 FA
