View Full Version : Tatupu Arrested

Seattle radio station KJR-AM 950 is reporting that Seahawks MLB Lofa Tatupu has been arrested for drunken driving.
KJR apparently has a copy of the police report which shows that Tatupu blew a .155 and a .158 percent in his breath tests, nearly twice the legal limit. Tatupu just signed a six-year extension worth $42 million in March, and this is his first major off-field incident since entering the league in 2005. He shouldn't face any disciplinary actions.

Christ on a crutch. A guy gets a great start on his career and a big contract, then he pulls crap like this. Even if he isn't disciplined by the NFL, and never does anything else wrong, this will be a black mark on his rep for life...

AB was suspended for 4 games but I think that wasn't his first offense. He will robably be suspended one game.

I can eventually get over the drunken driving. But a Hyundai? C'mon Lofa!! Where's your dignity?!?! You just got a HUGE contract and you're drivin' a friggin' HYUNDAI?
I may never get over this... :nonono:
The police report said an officer parked in his patrol car just after 2 a.m. Saturday observed Tatupu driving a 2006 Hyundai in excess of 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on a main city street and making erratic lane changes without signaling.

A smudge at best. Lest we forget that Ray Lewis went on trial for murder and no one ever even talks about it anymore. Remember, this guy's father is Mosi Tatupu and Lofa's not too old for a whippin'. If there's anyone I'm not worried about this turning into a habit for, it's this guy.

It pisses me off how people say Vick is a monster, or flip out about Lofa Tatupu DUI, and then convienently forget that Ray Lewis was under suspicion for murder, and that Leonard Little has actually killed a person while drinking and driving...

There's no justifying it. But I don't think it will be a "black mark for life". People remember this stuff when it's a chronic problem, not when it happens once.

True. I have a couple of good friends who have both had DUIs in the past. Thankfully both of them were stopped by the police and not involved in an accident. While it's incredibly irresponsible and dangerous, people are allowed to make mistakes and not be judged for a lifetime. You live and learn.

I didn't know who mosi Tatupu was, so I looked him up. I found on wikipedia that Matt Hasslebeck's dad and Tatupu's dad both were on the same team for like 5 or 7 years or something. Like father like son...

Yeah, funny thing is, Matt and Lofa actually attended the same elementary school for a couple of years while their dads were on the Patriots.

For those who are wondering what type of punishment he's likely to get...
According to the NFL's drug policy, Lofa Tatupu faces a possible fine of one-half of one-seventeenth of his base salary, which is $520,000. So he could be fined about $15,000. The cap is $20,000 if his base salary was higher. He will only face a suspension if he has a second offense.

It was a while ago. He recieved 90 days in jail, four years of probation, and had to log 1000 hours of community service. This was his rookie season though, i forgot about that, so he wasnt quite as big a name as, say, Ray Lewis.

Why didn't they just say 1/34 of his base salary? or at least make it more fun like 1/2 of twice of 15% times the square root of E?

**** Leonard Little. I'll never forget his crime. I bring it up every opportunity I get. The guy is a P.O.S. and should have dedicated his career to helping that family and donated a bunch towards victims of drunk driving. Instead, he goes out and gets arrested for drunk driving a few years later.
From what I've read in articles, he's never directly apologized to the family.
Leonard Little, you are a piece of snoof.

Not that it's right or anything but the irony is, my buddy who's a lawyer told me that this will probably never even make it to trial because the cops in this case make the O.J. detectives look like Colombo.
Tatupu declined to take a portable breath test, and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. En route to the police station, the arresting officer wrote in the police report that he forgot to read Tatupu his Miranda rights. He pulled over and read Tatupu his rights.
At the station, the report said, Tatupu took three breath tests because his second sample the first two times was invalid. The third test registered properly.
http://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/seahawks/story/359949.html
According to my buddy, armed robbers with a decent lawyer can get off when cops "forget" to read the miranda rights. And on the breathalyzer that wouldn't work right the first two times, he says any lawyer with a brain is going to say "If the darned thing wouldn't work the first two times, why would we trust it the third time?"
It'll be interesting to watch but he's calling it right now that it gets thrown out. We shall see...

They appear to be purses. I got that smiley from another Niners site, where it's labeled "sissy". LOL...
So you would take a guy who was often injured and never scored double digit TDs over a guy who found the endzone no less than 14 times in a season after he became the full time starter. If you take Garrison's best year in TDs and put it against Alexander's oft injured 06 campaign Garrison only had 1 more td. Alexander may be overrated in many circles but only an ***** would choose to have a player with less TDs on their team.HAHAHAHAHAHA....Are you actually saying that you'd take Alexander over Hearst and Craig? Wait, let me compose myself....Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahhahahahah .
Well, first off, your entire post is filled with so much idiocy it's hard to fathom. BO JACKSON was often injured and never topped FIVE TD's, let alone double digits. Does that mean Alexander was better than him, too?:falldownlaugh:
And on the subject of Hearst/Alexander...yeah, Alexander scored more TD's. But in their best season's, Hearst's offense scored more points and the 49ers passing games were more productive scoring wise in general. Maybe the 49ers just depended on getting points from their rushing game a lot less than the Seahawks did?
But let's just delve into the unspeakable ignorance of your bolded statement a little bit more. Alexander is ahead of all these players in career TD's:
Barry Sanders
Eric ****erson
Jerome Bettis
Franco Harris
Curtis Martin
Jim Taylor
Tony Dorsett
Earl Campbell
Eddie George
Thurman Thomas
O.J. Simpson
I (and anyone with 1% of a brain intact) would take all these RB's over Shaun Alexander in a millisecond. I guess that makes me such an idiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiot, huh? :falldownlaugh::falldownlaugh::falldownlaugh:
You also claimed that Ronnie Lott was overrated based on the 3 or 4 games you have of him on tape. Even if you did win any of those arguments, which I highly doubt, this claim alone makes your opinion worthless in my eyes.
3 or 4 games? Try 20+.
