View Full Version : Tom Brady slams ESPN

"ESPN, to me, is like MTV without the videos, ESPN is without the highlights."
LOL
"Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ripped ESPN today for its coverage of the Patriots' Spygate scandal.
Appearing on the Boston radio station WEEI, Brady suggested that the reason Patriotgate has stayed in the news is that the media in general and ESPN specifically are looking to fabricate a controversy.
"I think it's a way to really sell newspapers, and all the ESPN stations, they've got to fill the air, too," Brady said.
When it was pointed out to Brady that many of the ex-NFL players who work at ESPN were harshly critical of the Patriots and suggested that they gained a huge advantage from stealing signals, Brady said, "It's just kind of the environment right now, though. I think that's the way that guys make it. They just say the craziest things. That's what ESPN has become. ESPN, to me, is like MTV without the videos, ESPN is without the highlights."

I dont know what hes talking about. Seems to me all anybody does on ESPN or NFLN is give Brady a big sloppy BJ whenever they talk about him on segments. Just another thing for that guy to cry about. Im not surprised.

As a Giants fan I prefer alternative networks so I can see every teams game highlights.

What a stupid comment. All sports networks are running this, its a huge story.
Its a "cheating" scandal that resulted in two extremely harsh punishments and raised questions over their dynasty. What a :backtoglory49: . He shouldnt have said anything and let this thing die. Instead, he struck back and looked worse in the process.

Agreed they show the most highlights of A's and Giants games and you get all of what you would get on ESPN and then some in half the time......

Wow… has ESPN really become that bad?
In all honestly, I never watch ESPN unless there is a game on that I want to watch that they have exclusively and on draft day where I will bounce back and forth between NFLN and ESPN to try and avoid NFLN commercials.

ESPN is the shiz. Love that network.
If anything, ESPN has downplayed spygate and mostly report that there is nothing else to report on it. They could have taken the conspiracy path which could raise ratings but they did not.
Brady is way off on his comments and just sounds like he's too sensitive.

But seriously, what did Walsh's interviews prove? The big smoking gun that was supposedly there — the tape of the pre-SBXXXVI workout — wasn't there, and the Boston Herald was caught in a red-faced lie.
There is much ado about nothing with Walsh, for all intent purposes. So what is any media outlet supposed to say, let alone ESPN? Make up more stuff and be worse than the Boston Herald?
Pretty much, the situation is now dead. Unless someone digs up something, there is no more to discuss about it. It's beating a dead horse.

FOX Sports Net went bankrupt? That's news to me.
I think you got bad information, or assumed that because Comcast owned the majority share in FSN-BA and rebranded it this year that FSN went bankrupt.
Heck, FSN just spent a ton of money on a new HD production facility in Houston.

That's what they want us to believe. For all we know it was part of the "6" videos the Pats turned in that were destroyed. They couldn't get rid of that evidence fast enough, which tells me there were things there that they want NOBODY to know about because it would seriously discredit the NFL and the legitimacy of 3 Super Bowl titles.
I mean really, there's no valid reason they should've ever destroyed the notes or the tapes. Can you think of any?

I can think of a few but what's the use? You're going to just disagree anyway (which is fine), a nd then it'll turn into a big conspiracy theory thread, and I have better things to concern myself about than something that is a dead issue in my eyes.

Like getting the 5 stars off for Niko?
Seriously though, what are the reasons? Because the NFL wants to discourage copycats from trying to get their hands on the notes/videos? Why not put em in a safe? Lock em up somewhere. There's no legit reason to destroy evidence.
Just imagine a burglary case in court:
Judge: I've seen all the evidence I need to see from the defense, let this man free.
Prosecutor: But judge, we have a witness that says they saw this man with all the stolen goods, can't we at least see the evidence?
Judge: Too late, I destroyed it all because I've already seen what I need to see.

Brady, if you don't like espn or the media or what you think they do, then tell belicheat not to videotape people. It's America you know, DA! Why don't you go ask Belicheat why he did what he did that destroyed the image of the Pathetics organization.

Brady's just sensitive cause he's being directly implicated in the cheating scandal. If the Pats cheated, it all went through him.
Specter held his own three-hour meeting with Walsh in Washington on Tuesday. He said Walsh detailed how the Patriots used videotaped signals to their advantage: an offensive player would memorize the signals, watch for them on the sideline and pass them on to assistant coach Charlie Weis, who would then inform quarterback Tom Brady.
"And they had some obviously good results," Specter said.

It's just hilarious that during their SB runs and prior to spygate ESPN was all over the jock of the Patriots even going so far as to reminding all of us that the Patriots were winning with high character guys and winning with class. They get caught cheating, more tapes surface, it's off season and what happens. Tom Brady shows once again that he can't take any criticism or negativity. Classic QB knocks the messenger and ignores the fact that they have been punished for cheating so the cheating has been confirmed.
