View Full Version : Eddie D looking to own the Rams!?

The possible sale of the franchise could have major ramifications, with a potential return of the team to Southern California hanging over any transaction. Adding intrigue to the situation: One of the prospective buyers who has had preliminary discussions with an intermediary about buying the Rams is Eddie DeBartolo, who owned the rival San Francisco 49ers from 1977 to '98.

Now that would just suck....

If Eddie actually did this, could he trade franchises with the Yorks? haha. Bring Eddie D back and send the Yorks packing to the midwest...

The only good thing from this article is relocating the Rams back to LA where they belong!

This would improve the rivalry, add another west coast team, pi$$ off ESPN, cut back our travel miles, and get the Rams back outdoors on natural turf.

This garage they play in now is the worst!!!

I always find it funny when people bring up the Yorks and the mid west, as if Eddie didn't also live in Ohio the entire time he owned the team.

And that the article states Eddie now lives in Tampa.

Yeah, lets have an east coast guy own the team!

So you would take the Yorks over Eddie? If Eddie owned the Rams, twice a year we would be sadly reminded he once owning the 49ers.

Do you mean to say that ESPN would be against the Rams going to LA because they have other interests in LA that are doing so well? Or have I missed something here...

The NFL could use more of a presence on the west coast

No I think the implication was that ESPN is a heavily east-coast biased reporting organization. They do sloppy and very incomplete work on western ballclubs in almost every sport and get spoonfed fluffy feel good stories about all of the more local teams.

Half their NFL coverage can honestly be adlibbed as "Tom Brady sneezed at a press conference today after practice. So we've brought on medical correspondent Dr. James Garouda to comment on the flu and Tom Brady... (10 minutes later)...Thank you Doctor. Also, we're reporting that Michael Strahan still has not made any anouncement about returning for another season nor has he made any announcement that he will make an announcement at any point. In other league news a DEN Wide Receiver was running at practice, San Diego cut one its starters, and there's something about the 49ers but we're out of time. Get better Tom! Have a good night everybody!"

Sad thing is if Tom Brady actually did sneeze at a news conference it'd be HUGE news year round at ESPN.

They may have business interests in LA, but if you watch Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight (Yankees/Red Sox Tonight),or even the NFL Pregame, they focus on the east coast teams!!!

Well in about a year there will be no more salary cap, so Eddie D won't have to contend with that.

And Eddie D won a SB in the Salary Cap era in 94. Albeit his signings helped pave the way for "cap hell".

Nope...just a figure of speech. I would hate to see Eddie be an owner anywhere but here...Maybe they could then pull off what the Rams and Colts did some 40 years ago?

Both ownership groups agreed to swap teams. Carol Rosenblum and his young slutty bride owned the Colts, not sure if Irsay owned the Rams back then, but they pulled it off.

Scenario:

Eddie buys the Rams, moves them to LA, tells York to buy a condo in Television City because he now own the Rams, Eddie heads north!:hoppy:

Problem solved
