Hey maybe some of you can drop a little knowledge on me: What are we we looking for in our defensive lineman playing a 3-4 now? Do we just want huge lineman to absorb blockers and free our linebackers to make tackles, rush from the outside? Does a guy like Ngata fit in here? Any others, besides Williams that would be a good fit? Anything that will help our pass rush I am all for. Thanks, respect.

Ngata would def clog the middle and free up some backers, but we need more of a Pass Rush from the right Side.

3-4 DL are 2-gap players meaning they need to occupy two holes and occupy blockers compared to 4-3 DL who are more 1-gap players that are needed to penetrate. Ngata fits in well as 3-4 NT because he occupies space and is a 2-gap player. Bunkley is more of a 1-gap player so fits better in a 4-3 but could be groomed into a 3-4 DE.

Mayock thinks Bunkley could play the nose.

I dont think that would work out with him in a 3-4

I have heard that from other places also, I think DE would be a better fit for him though, at least in a 34.

All we have now is Adams/Sopoaga at NT and BY at the end? If Williams/Hawk and Davis are gone maybe we trade down to take Bunkley and pick up a 2nd round pick?

I hadnt thought of that, great idea. Bunkley then BA OLB and getting a 2nd rounder.

You want a massive Nose to take up space. You also want bigger DE's to hold the first edge of the defense. Your main pass rushers should be the 4th and 5th people you may blitz. Thats why same pass rushing DE's from college can be a great OLB in a 3-4.

Now Willis would be a great fit on the other side of Manny. Or another person I would look at is Woodley. I wouldnt use a 11 pick on Woodley, but trade down to get him or possibly he might slip to the 2nd round.

As far as who we draft in the first round Idont know. All I DO know is that is will be a great tallent due to the fact that it is a high pick.
