there are too many injuries and I don't want to see more players get hurt.

Just play 3 preseason games and that is more than enough plus most of the tv networks like NBC, CBS, Fox only televise 3 preseason national tv games.

Agreed, I would love to have more games because I love football. But the problem is stats would be inflated and also make it easyer for people to break stat records.
