In addition to being a QB, he was an all-conference punter at UNLV. :)

Randal Cuningham was the ish. And I remember watching that game. Dam I feel old. Thanks.
A great athlete Randall was. Too bad Buddy Ryan was his coach for a while. Just another example of a player that couldn't reach his true potential due to certain circumstances. My mother dated this guy for a while in high school. Strange.

And then of course one of the greatest plays of all-time.

Sammy Baugh > Randall Cunningham > Andy Lee
Baugh holds the NFL record for highest punting average in a career, with 45.1 yards, and the highest single season mark, at 51.4
Also shares the record of most seasons of leading the league in passing (6), tied with none other than your own Steve Young
And second in highest single-season completion percentage (70.33)
But probably my favorite of his records is being the only player to ever lead the league in passing, interceptions caught as a DB (11), and punting average (45.9), all in the same season
#33 FTW

Wow, 11 picks in how many games? 14? Or was it less during that time?

Slingin' Sammy Baugh is indeed one of the best players ever. He kind of gets the shaft nowadays because of the "modern" game. If not for players like him there wouldn't be a modern game.

Randall Cunningham was so fun to watch.
It's really too bad he could never put together conistant seasons year after year. I just remember some games you sit and think you're watching a HOF career in the making, and then he'd fall flat the next year.
But it was a fun ride while it lasted.

Well any chance he really had in Philadelphia went away when his quarterback coach Doug Scovil passed away in 1989. Not to mention he didn't really have that much offensive talent around him during his tenure there.

Randall was 1 yard short of the longest punt in NFL history on this play.
IMO anything before 1970 is irrelevant in saying X > Y.
Randall would dominate in the 1940's, assuming he was even allowed to play back then :)

I always thought it had more to do with the Oline and lack of run game. 1990 was disgusting. 942 rushing yards and 5 TD's, plus 3466 passing yards and 30 TD's to 13 INT's. Puts Michael Vick to shame.
