View Full Version : New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colson receives 3-year extension.
Not that big of news, but it's something. I think he deserves it. He's one of my favorite players. Really underrated in my opinion.

This guy is gonna be a solid WR for years to come. What a steal and I agree he is very under rated.

the guy definitely deserves it, he's money in the bank as a young, big time stud
he'll probably have a huge year again this year (in terms of media spotlight) as i think the Saints are going to rebound and contend for the NFC South title, and whether or not someone thinks Shockey is overrated (which i do), he's still a pass catching threat that teams have to watch out for, which will only open up more opportunities for Colston

Could also take some opportunities away from Colston. Sucks for fantasy owners.

not often does a 7th round d1aa receiver come in and dominate the pros early in his career as colston has. as they say, "hard work pays off."

i don't believe shockey's presence will hurt colston's looks much, if at all. the saint's really lack an established threat opposite of colston so he will be targeted regularly. i'd expect 90+ catches from colston once again. also, not that shockey is a huge threat, but he could take some pressure off of colston which could actually increase his value a bit. i believe colston will have another stand out year, he's on a pass happy team and is seemingly brees' go to guy.

Shockey is POS IMO.
And he's really ove .
My question is why he wasn't down on the sidelines cheering on his teammates in the SB, he was up in a press box drinking beer.
Uh... they revealed this story. The Giants didn't let him down, and Shockey expressed his frustration in the offseason.
And what does POS mean?

The Saints are going on the right path. They will only get better with Colston.

Apparently he wasn't allowed.

Housh must be paying attention to this. This should help him realize what kind of money he should expect next year.

Colston is the man. They should have given him a 15 year deal.

Marques Colston > Calvin Johnson
Already in his young career, Colston has proven to be as reliable of a WR as there is in the NFL. He gets open, converts 3rd downs, is an excellent RZ target, and catches EVERYTHING that comes his way.
If you ask me, he should have 2 Pro-Bowls under his belt already.

i dont know about that. johnson was playing through a back injury. i think johnson will be one of the greats to play. colston will be close, but i think johnson will have the better careers.

If he was on a bigger market team, he might have gotten those Pro Bowls. Remember, the Pro Bowl is just a popularity contest; to me, it's the All-Pro selections and knowing who's who that really counts to a player's rep.

Colston is a real nice possession receiver, but I would take Calvin Johnson. I thought CJ showed a lot when he was healthy and has a brighter future, IMO.

Pro-Bowl's and All-Pro selections are nice, but there are so many great players in the league, to me it's more of a matter of there just simply aren't enough slots to honor all the deserving players.
I think fans that watch and pay attention to see how consistently a player performs can paint a more clear picture than a name next to a bunch of accolades.
Marques Colston is as reliable of a WR as there is in the NFL. He doesn't drop passes, and you can trust him to get up and come down with it in a crowd. Plays within himself and because of that... big plays seem to just come in stride.
