Hi all! I'm new (obviously) even though I've been checking the board some here and there. My husband and I are traveling to SF the weekend before Thanksgiving and since he is a HUGE 49ers fan (stuck living in Ohio) we decided we would go to a game. Well, we just found out about the whole Jerry Rice thing and needless to say he is exstatic (sp?)!
Anyway, I saw on ticket master that they have an auction thing that includes pre-game sideline passes. How do you get the pre-game sideline passes other than through the auction? Is it something you can buy? It would be like a dream come true for him to be able to do that.
I'm still working on getting tickets, I just saw where single gamers go on sale Aug. 26th. He wants to be on the 49ers sideline so I hope those aren't too hard to get. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me, I really appreciate it!!

I'm not aware you can buy sideline passes. If there is a pair up for auction then, you might need to bif on those. If I recall, only family members and certain people, press, picture takers and certain people are allowed sideline passes, it's not something they give out to the public. So most likely some person has a pair and trying to sell them.. Not sure, If I am correct on this..

Unless you know someone in the 49ers front office you can't get them. The do give some out in contests and things like the auctions. Yes it is nice to walk on the hallow grounds of the Stick while the players are on the field but you have to remeber the players are there to work not talk to the fans. sometimes they do talk to people they know and go to the first row of seats to say hi to friends and family. You will still have a great time at the game.

Season Ticket Holders still have about 60 hours left of the pre-sale before single game seats go on sale on the 26th. I just checked Ticketmaster to get an idea what tickets are still available. Best available? Upper Reserve, section 12, row 20. When the tickets go on sale to the general public those seats may no longer be available.
All your other expenses will be the same for your trip out here. Spend the money and get better tickets!
Don't let an extra $100.00-$150.00 keep you from the best experience possible!!!

Thanks for the info everyone!
I understand what you are saying Eng74, I thought the experience of being on the sidelines would be cool, not to mention the pictures I could get. We have plenty of experience in sports and know the athletes/people would be preparing for a game, not out to chat with fans.
I realize we are probably going to pay some $$ for the tickets. I'm treating it as a once in a lifetime experience for him even though we come out to CA every couple of years. He would really like section 22 w/i the first couple of rows, but I don't see that happening. I've also looked at the Fan2Fan ticket exchange.
Again, thanks for the info, it is much appreciated.

Take a look at stubhub.com
The tickets their are over-priced but you will have a better selection of seats and maybe able to pick-up excellent sideline seats
But be prepaired to pay $300+ per ticket
I just recieved my tickets for the 49ers @ Lions game which I purchased though Stubhub
Good Luck!
