Wow, now the Chargers have been dinged...... big time. Shawne Merriman is done for the year. He's an ideot if he thinks he can play on that knee, and he will find that out pretty quickly. The Chargers just lost their team leader on defense, and their best player. They just went from a Super Bowl contender to a division winner, and only because their division is weak.

And even if they overpay Strahan to come back, the Giants' defense took a major hit. Their chances of winning another Super Bowl this season just tanked.

Chargers will be fine without Merriman. Their defense is loaded. Although his backup went down tonight too. But they will still be just fine.
As for the Giants, they're in big trouble. Especially if Strahan can't or doesn't come back. That division is going to be very tough this year, and both Osi and Strahan made it really easy for Justin Tuck to make plays.

I seriously doubt that. They were pretty specific about the type of injury that he sustained to those two ligaments. If he has surgery right away he will be back some time next season. His age will also benefit him in terms of the healing process.
I don't think the Chargers will be "fine" without Merriman though. He is arguably the best player on that team along with Tomlinson, and his own teammates admitted that he's the spark on that defense. They will still win their division, I have little doubt of that. I just see a team like Jacksonville destroying them once they get to the playoffs.

LMAO, but ya he is getting a 4th opinion LOL.
And they might be okay. They have rush stoppers but their blitz will take a hit. So they will kinda be like us.

seriously, I hate to see anyones career be in jeopardy... but if they've been cheating via performance enhancement drugs, I have less sympathy
karma
Especially when they bash All-Pro players like Jason Taylor for calling them out saying that they shouldn't be given accolades after being found cheating in a season.

The Chargers' defense is definitely less scary without Merriman in there. Ditto the Giants, who are now in full blown panic mode over their DE situation...

Strahan told the giants to piss off.
