Can anyone tell me why Shawn Merriman's Injury is considered Career ending?but Osi and everyother player that actually shreds all 3 ligaments PCL,MCL, and the ACL are not considered "career ending"

Is this just all media hype I'm just a little peeved cause I have S.D. Defense in my Fantasy league and this is a huge hit for my D.

I find it just funny that his is considered career ending when every other player that actually blows there entire knee out its only a 12-18 month rehab. Or you see them playing the next year.

any thoughts

I beleive because he continued to play on it it caused more damage and didnt heal on its own, speculation only here. From what I read he will require total reconstructive knee surgery.

It seems to break down like this: surgery ends his season may save career, no surgery saves season but may end career by causing further damage.

He could also opt for minor surgery or a more severe total reconstructive surgery this too could end his career.

I understand that but, he didnt blow out all 3 ligaments. The ACL is the worst knee ligament injury to have. And nothing is reported on that. Alot of players play on torn MCL and PCL they do risk the recovery time if they completely tear them. But I just cant figure out why HIS injury is supposed to be Career Ending.

The Chargers are issuing a press release saying he'll play. At what point are they responsible is he is injured for good?

Well...apparently according to ESPN he's going to forgo all surgery to play on the knee. That's after 4 doctors told him to get surgery. Really, really dumb. I don't know how the Chargers would even allow that. He'll be likely to get through the first few weeks without ruining his entire career.

Then again, he may be pumping a ****load of HGH to try to and heal.

i completely agree.. just a real stupid decision on his part. there's no other way around it.

if 4 different prominent doctors all suggest the same thing and you do otherwise, you really have no one but yourself to blame for the possible consequences that you face.

and like u said, i have NO clue how the Chargers organization would allow the player to overrule these doctors opinion in a situation this serious.

He should have to sign some sort of agreement similar to what the cowboys requested of terry glenn.

Who knows, maybe Merriman playing through injury will inspire Michael Strahan to stop being such a B***H!

A once promising career first marred by the roids, and now possibly ending early because of a stupid decision. I would feel bad if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s his own decisions that have blemished his legacy.

he's such an *****. I have a feeling the chargers lawyers are going nuts making up some kind of contract where if/when his knee explodes they aren't liable for anything.

I can see the opposing team's game plan now:

Coach: Men, today's focus will be on hitting Shawn's knee early and often

Cut block FTW! The Broncos will end his career.

LOL - if anyone can get that job done, Shanahan is the man for it!

First off, Merriman is a complete *****.

Second, the Chargers shouldn't allow him to play.

Finally, the Chargers won't do anything in the playoffs this year.

Just slab a bit of the Clear and then inject some roids straight into the knee. He'll be ok.

LMAO - seriously, my first thought when I saw he was going to play on it was, "Dude - you know you gotta play Shanny twice this year, right??!?"

For you who have seen the Movie Friday Night Lights, Boobie Miles had a Ligament tear in his knee and he tried to return but to no avail he was not the same player, Thats what is going to happen to Merriman!

It's just a game Sean. And you're only 24?

yep. LT's window = Chargers window

as LT approaches that RB wall in the near future the Chargers chance ends.

Perhaps. If they replace Tomlinson with someone that may not be as explosive, but still gets the job done...I wouldn't be surprised if they still made a championship type of run.

you dont just replace a RB like LT.

Thats like saying a HOFer could just step in and replace Joe Montana............oh wait.

See!

I'm glad he's playing, he's fun to watch. Even if he reinjures it, it ain't gonna be career-ending. He'll go get surgery and be back 9 months later.
