I thought PSU deserved to be in the top 5. I guess 6 isn't that far out of it.

They dominated the game from start to finsh, always had the lead from I recall.
They also beat the team that beat USC very handily. Granted they haven't really played anybody else, but they look really good right now on all 3 units.
Illinois took the lead early, but then PSU came back, took the lead, and never gave it back.
This Penn State team is serious business this year.

Why? Did they beat the crap out of Illinois, or did they just play a decent game against the first decent team they've played?
USC shouldn't be so high, and i'm a born and raised USC fan. You dont lose to unranked Oregon State and then stay in the top 10, that's just crazy.

Who beat USC very handily?
Penn State has played and beaten one decent, and that's being generous with decent, team. I'll be rooting for them though.

Nobody has mentioned them yet, but how about Vanderbilt moving up to #19. I feel them and Texas Tech are the 2 teams I feel are too high though.
Agreed but you gotta let them both enjoy it. Texas Tech will be lucky to be ranked at all after they get through Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. And Vanderbilt is definitely screwed with Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Wake Forest left. It's their moment in the sun, wont last too long though.

Texas Tech could beat all three of those teams. They beat down Oklahoma last year. Neither one of those teams could touch Oklahoma. I'm betting that TT beats Kansas and Texas.

Could? Or will? Anyone could beat anyone, but I dont see TT doing it. They'll prolly beat Kansas, but I dont think they'll take out Texas or Oklahoma and they'll prolly mess up against some random team. Dont they play some terrible team in a couple weeks:thinking:, oh yeah, Nebraska. Maybe even Nebraska could pull one out against em.

uf? as a fan and from my perspective i don't think they should be in the top 20 right now. their performance in the 1st 3 qtrs. was absolute garbage! until they start playing like they did last year i wouldn't even rank em in the top 20! all the same players are there but they lack that fire/desire to win. i just don't see that x-factor there this year.
until they get that eye of the tiger back their gonna get worked by auburn,ga., & lsu and drop out of the top 20 anyway.

Hilarious. BYU moves up, what, 3-4 spots on a bye week?

Wow, BYU in the top 10?
HUGE jump for Alabama, they might even deserve it!
Glad to see Texas Tech all the way up to 7.

When Utah crushes Oregon State at home this Thursday, will they jump in front of USC?

TT will beat Kansas bad.
Its a toss up for the Texas game, and OU will tear them apart at home.
TT is a legit top 20 team IMO.
Im actually liking TT's chances against Texas though FWIW.

That sentence was meant to read more like this: PSU won big over the team that beat USC. I see how it could be confusing.

A few of the higher ranked SEC teams have also played against each other already, guaranteeing the losers of those games would fall out of the top 10. The B12 hasn't played anybody yet.

I'm a little baffled why Georgia and Florida are below USC...they lost to MUCH stiffer competition, particularly UGA. Them dropping to 11 is...perplexing.

Alabama vs. BYU
The inbreds Vs. the Polygamists.

Georgia got stomped out by Alabama, for all intents and purposes. They got some garbage points towards the end, but that game was over in the 1st half, and they did not look like they belonged on the field with 'bama.
They also got away with a really bad clip on a KR that the refs' let go for a TD, just to keep thing interesting, and still couldn't really get back in it.
As for Florida... they lost to Ole Miss. Just because you are in the SEC doesn't automatically make you a great team. They lost to an otherwise average team... just like USC did.
Ole Miss is still worlds better than Oregon State, and they lost by a grand total of one point.
And don't forget that OSU was up 21-0 over USC at one point too.

Nah, as big as an SEC fan I am, conference play is conference play. Ole Miss sucks, but had Florida's number. Just the way it is. That's why Kentucky scares me next week vs Bama.

Lubbock is a tough place to win and Texas will be coming off a 4 week stretch that includes games against Oklahoma and Missouri back to back.
I definitely think Texas has the toughest schedule, in the least, the toughes month of any team with Oklahoma, Missouir, and Texas Tech in a 4 week span.
Texas also should be ahead of Missouri, which has not demonstrated any kind of defense, they are too one dimensional to remain ahead of Texas when they had a bye week and Texas absolutely crushed a (given they were weak) SEC team in Arkansas.
We'll see how they play at Boulder next week to start conference play. But the thought of getting play Oklahoma when they are ranked #1 and that if they beat them could be playing a top 3 or #1 ranked Missouri team the next week would be great.
the SEC meanwhile will continue to cannibalize itself, and the Big 12 soon will, too.

people need to cut it out with the SEC bull**** already. Yes Georgia lost to Alabama but come on Ole Miss is much stiffer (whatever that is supposed to mean) then Oregon State?! OSU has one of the best defenses in the nation, please dont give me all this "every last team in the SEC is a national title contender year in and year out ****!"
I'll have to go ahead and check the stats on that, but are we talking about the same OSU team that Penn State layed 45 on? Or that Stanford put 36 on? Or that is about to get destroyed by Utah?
You see it all the time in sports, one team has another team's number. For whatever reason, they just show up to play and can beat a supposedly better team. Oregon State would get pounded by the majority of teams in the SEC.

Ole Miss has a stout defense as well. They have one of the best pass rushers in the NCAA, and have big bodies in the middle of that line, and that's where defense starts.
Ole Miss would kick the crap out of OrSt, who has talented players on defense, but it hasn't translated into on field success. Those guys are getting the score run up on them every week.

and PSU would of scored 65+ but they took there starters out after the 1st drive of the 3rd quarter
