Got proposed this trade in a 10-team Yahoo league today:

I receive: Chris Cooley and Wes Welker
I give up: Larry Johnson

Here is the rest of my roster:

QB (start 1)

Eli Manning
JTO
Trent Edwards

RB (start 2)

Gore
Portis
McGahee
Edge
Hightower

WR (start 3)

Plaxico
Lee Evans
Donald Driver

TE (start 1)

No one else on roster.

K

Joe Nedney (Plan to bye week churn anyway)

DEF

Tampa Bay (They've actually done well for me so I may not churn this one)

I need a WR because Plax has an extra bye week. Of my bench depth, I haven't decided who to drop, but I think McGahee might be the guy because he seems to be hurt a lot this year, is sucking, and has less value than my backup QBs. And, of course, if I accept the trade, I'd have to drop someone else to make room due to roster limit and McGahee would be it.

I'm not sure this trade is even, though. The passing game in NE took a hit with Brady out, and Cooley hasn't done much in Washington yet.

What do you think? And would you agree McGahee is the droppable guy as I seek to clear roster space to account for Plax being out?

Take the trade.

Drop Hightower over McGahee.

Johnson is hot right now but I dont see it lasting. I think his lack of carries pissed him off but personally, I think hes done.

So that's 3-0 in favor of go for the trade.

And I sense I should keep McGahee and drop Hightower?

Depends I guess. You may get higher TD production from Hightower, but McGahee I have a feeling will be the better play as the season goes on.

With Gore and Portis, though, I guess McGahee and Hightower are depth, more or less. I drafted McGahee and LJ because they were there and picked up Edge and Hightower as free agents.

I accepted it and dropped Hightower. We'll see what happens. I guess there is a review period for trades, but we all know each other and it's not a cut throat league so I'm not worried about that.

Good trade for you, man. Well done.

Thanks. Sometimes, I get trade offers and I'm like, is this worth it? Is this for real? Maybe there's a catch. I tend to worry it's a trap. Other times, I'm just not sure.

I would not touch that deal unless a PPR league even then your making a position of massive competitive advantage and making it very very average with no depth. Your not getting any real upside, I'd ride it out pick up a TE off the WW and dump a QB, the is NO need for 3 QB's on your roster in a 10 man small roster league.

JTO should go imo.

Or consider packaging willis/edge/hightower with a Qb for a WR.

Oops didnt see it already went through, well you still should dump a QB and pick up more depth at RB or WR.

It's a for fun league anyway, so if this crashes and burns, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

My money league? That's a completely different story. I've only made one trade there, basically to plug in a hole in my starting lineup and -- barring injury -- be as well-rounded as one can be in a 14-team league.
