Once again, I was slacking and didn't get this up on time.
Didn't get a chance to watch any of the games that have been played so far this week, but I have them on my DVR, of course. Looks like that Clem/Wake game was a barn-burner.
Tonight/Tomorrow's match-ups:
Louisville @ Memphis: couple of .500 teams go at it tonight. Victor Anderson for L'Ville has been fun to watch so far this year. I haven't seen Memphis yet.
Game of the Week
#5 Texas vs #1 Oklahoma: In Dallas, with both teams coming in strong this time. I like OU to win this one, they are the more complete team.
S. Carolina @ Kentucky: Kentucky only has one loss, and is still in the running for the SECE...probably won't last, but their defense has been great so far this year.
#13 Vanderbilt @ Mississippi St: Will Vandy get Croomed or are they for real?
Arizona St @ #8 USC: this was supposed to be the game that would ultimately decide the Pac-10. But, ASU has been crap this year, and might be without their QB in this one.
#23 Michigan St @ Northwestern: NW is unbeaten, and unranked. This would be a good time to spring a trap on a ranked conference opponent.
Notre Dame @ #22 N. Carolina: both teams are somewhat of a surprise at 4-1. Should be a good game.
Tennessee @ #10 Georgia: this looks better on paper, unless UGA is still in a funk from the Bama game.
Arizona @ Stanford: my upset special of the week. Stanford beats the only other team in the Pac-10 of significance this year.
Arkansas @ #20 Auburn: Storyline - Franklin is out as the OC...Petrino was our OC in 2002. Let's see how AU plays with a different play caller, but keeping most of the system Franklin put in.
#6 Penn St @ Wisconsin: Bielema just lost his first game at Camp Randall, so this will be interesting how they respond to another conference opponent coming in. Could be an upset here.
#15 Boise St @ Southern Miss: another possible upset special here.
#17 Oklahoma St @ #3 Missouri: the score board operator will be tired after this one.
#4 LSU @ #11 Florida: this will probably end up being a better game than the Tex/OU game, but comes in with less hype. Whoever takes snaps for LSU at QB is going to have a hard time with the noise. And Florida really needs Tebow to get back to the level he played at last year.

Auburn wont have a problem with Arkansas. Doesn't matter though, Auburn appears to be the USC of the east. No matter what they do they'll be ranked.

I wish. We're bustin' arse on housework projects to have them done before winter. I'll be lucky to catch the evening games. Then tomorrow, I've got to go to a buddy's wedding...on my birthday :banghead: He's a Niner fan too, so at least he has to suffer some too for making us go to his Sunday wedding

That's Tenn soph S right?...what did he do?...
he just picked off Stafford in the end zone (it was mainly miscommunication on a fade route rather than his own doing), but he returned it like 60-65 yards out of the end zone all the way to the 35-40 yardline of Georgia..
his 4th INT of the year.. the dude is a natural playmaker who can do a little bit of everything.. amazing he's just a **** sophmore.

Did you just see that finish for the Notre Dame-North Carolina game?
Notre Dame has a last-gasp pass for a first down with five seconds left or so when the receiver caught it. Yet he fumbled it over to North Carolina. Yet Notre Dame went up to the line to try and snap a final play —*because the line judge said the receiver was down — and didn't get it off.
The teams come out on to the field to do the postgame congrats and handshakes and all that, then the refs wanted a review — which just proved there was a fumble and it was UNC ball with two seconds left. Kneel down and UNC wins 29-24.

The AU game wasn't televised in my area, so i was relegated to reading about it...
Sounds like the offense is still a disaster. We completed 10 passes all game, and didn't ever try to run the ball against a loaded box. It's almost to point now, we should just punt on 1st down, and let the defense get the ball back in FG range. That, and Defensive/Special Teams scores are the only way we can score this year. This offense has a chance to finish as the worst offense ever in NCAA history.

Where have you been, why is that a surprise? None of us believed we were #3. It's unfortunate we had to get blown out like that with such a high ranking, but we're obviously clearly more a #15 or so team (#13 feels right).
Got to give it to Florida though, they are absolutely pissed they lost to Ole Miss. If they play like that the rest of the year, god help whoever they play in the title game.

Quick notes from the TCU @ CSU game (just finished watching):
This was CSU's Homecoming game. It was cold (39 degrees) and drizzling light rain. CSU seemed to have a lot of momentum/confidence for the first half, but couldn't do anything after their first drive. TCU didn't look very good on offense, but they were playing with a limited QB (Dalton's back-up) who was more of a runner than a passer. The score was 13-7 TCU at the half, and that ended up being the final as well.
Some prospect observations:
Jerry Hughes is not a quick twitch guy, he doesn't get off the snap with much burst or anticipation - doesn't show a whole lot of agility (which may have been due to field conditions this game), which is probably why TCU lines him up on the left side (usually the offense's strong side). He showed one move most of the game, the bull rush. He doesn't do much with his hands either, just kind of gets engaged and tries to work his way into the backfield with strength. Occasionally, he will start in a 2 point stance. He has adequate-to-good thigh and core size, giving him a shot to stay at DE in the NFL.
Overall, he didn't leave much of an impression on me from this game, but he did manage to make 3 plays during the game (2 sacks and a hurry). His first sack was in the early part of the 3rd quarter. He had a late start off the snap, and beat the RT (#53-Remberton) to the edge and was easily able to get a direct line on the QB. The QB bobbled the ball on the sack, but managed to hang on. On his second sack (middle of the 4th quarter), he got a decent jump off the snap, and ran right around the RT (#75) who looked slow footed and unable to protect the edge, again Hughes had a direct line on the QB and got the sack (on 3rd down). His hurry came on the final defensive play for TCU, when he just bull rusher RT #75 and went right through him to force the QB to move out of the pocket and throw an INT. He was also called for 2 penalties in this game - a personal foul for a late hit on the QB and an offsides.
For the most part the RT #53 (Remberton) handled him well and was singled up on him all game. For whatever reason, #75 finished the last couple of series at RT and got eaten up. CSU had to bring a TE over to help him.
Raphael Priest was a blanket for most of the game and didn't see much action come his way in the air. He did have a nice drive sequence where he got a blindside sack on the QB, and shortly thereafter came off the weakside to make a TFL on the RB. Later in the game he made a nice play getting himself around Sperry for a PBU without causing contact to draw a penalty.
Shea Reagan, the TE for TCU, stood out enough for me last year that he was on my watch list for this season. He's an interesting prospect that will probably fall into the later rounds. He's a good blocking TE, but has a good amount of speed to get himself into open spaces in the passing game. He pretty much fit those descriptions again in this game.
Kory Sperry continued to look like a solid TE prospect in this game. All of his catches went for 1st downs, one was an athletic leaping grab along the left sideline, and another was a nice diving grab over the middle. He did however drop a TD that would have given CSU the lead. It was a deep ball that he beat all the DBs to be the deepest man, but the ball bounced right off his upper chest.
Gartrell Johnson was pretty quiet in this one. He scored CSU's only TD on their opening drive and had a nice opening series, but was mostly a non-factor the rest of the way. He has a nice build as a power back, kind of reminds me of BenJarvus Green Ellis. He also shows his emotions a quite a bit on the field...not over the top though.
