Wow, nice read. I didn't know he was into all that. Good for him, and he deserve any success he gets.

Is it about the pre-med thing? The guy's apparently very, very intelligent.

Yea he's gonna be getting the Rhodes Scholarship in November after getting his pre med major done in 2 1/2 years.

He has to choose between the NFL and Oxford this offseason...

Rolle's a great guy. i haven't actually been able to meet him, but one of my good friends spent the summer abroad in 2007 in Europe with him like it discusses in the article and she works with him on student boosters stuff pretty frequently.

starting QB Christian Ponder is also a genius, the guy's already in grad school as a redshirt sophomore, with undergrad degrees in Finance and Real Estate, one of the hardest double majors you can do at FSU that's not a science of some kind. and he did it with like a 3.8 GPA or something as well.

i'm not sure about Rolle being a 1st round pick, but this is definitely the best season he's had yet, he's been in coverage a lot more than before (Mickey Andrews is using a lot more Cover 2 this year than i've seen him use previously) and he's making plays that he was not making at all last year, getting down to the 4.5 range certainly helped as his acceleration just seemed kind of slow before. he could definitely make a solid strong safety in time, but given how lofty his goals are globally i could definitely understand him taking the Rhodes scholarship and going after that.

He was selected for the Rhodes Scholarship today, and is on his way to the game right now in DC.

From the comments, it looks as though he'll choose Oxford University, which is a pretty nice place to study.

Watching the video, it seems as though Roole is an academics first, sports second guy. That's nice to see in an age where individuals can get preferential treatment to enter college because of sports ability.

The other option open to Rolle would be to stay in the the states, and ask any suitors to allow him to continue to study while playing in the NFL. It certainly looks as though he has the ability to do both, but given all the physical dangers involved with playing football, I would think he'll come to Oxfordshire. As a brain surgeon, you've also got to practice because if you fall behind with new advances, your career can be over.

Perhaps one of the city / regional based teams will pick him up :-)

He's American. They think nothing of a commute that most Brits would pull a face about. Based in Oxford, he could play for pretty much any team in England that could afford him. I'm sure the Oxford Saints, Farnham Knights, London Blitz and Coventry Jets are warming their cheque books as we speak...

I was at the FSU/MD game on saturday and was very pleased to watch my noles handle that *** in College Park.

Man I love pissing of visiting fans when theyre getting rocked in your their own building.

Terp fans were leaving at the end of the 3rd quarter.

But yea Rolle got the Rhodes scholarship and came in at the end of the 2nd quarter.

After hearing about Rolle getting the 'ship, its just pumped the team up even more. It was a great night for Nole fans everywhere.

One thing that did suck for Rolle was that he got gatorade poured all over him in 23 degree weather. That must not of been much fun.
