Everywhere I look the same analysts who say CBs mean nothing and paying them a lot is bad planning say the 49ers badly need CBs! As if the front 7 is not in much higher need of upgrades.

On top of that, they already have Clements tied up for at least another 4 years, Tarell Brown in his 2nd year showing he can be a nickel guy, Reggie Smith a rookie, Spencer will be back next year and has been serviceable.

Why would they waste a top round pick on another rookie CB when they could continue to develop Brown and Smith and pick up an average vet as a stop gap if necessary?

Does anyone in their right minds even think that a 2nd round corner would start? Let alone make any difference and not just get burned repeatedly like every corner when the defense isn't getting to the quarterback?

We need linemen on both sides of the ball a lot more than we need another CB.

Draft "experts" think we need secondary help every year.

During the preseason it looked like Spencer was doing really well in single coverage before he got injured.
If he wouldn't have been injured maybe we could have used him against Boldin or Welker when we were in the dime.
Donald Strickland against that kind of talent is a humongous mismatch

No. The problem is the d line. We need a pass rushing d end.
