How weak! That picture perfect tackle of Brooks Bollinger was not illegal and was not worth a fine. What is this league turning into!?!?

by NFL rule it warrants a fine since he clearly drove the QB into the ground. the problem is the rule is flat out dumb. let these guys play.
He tackled him to the ground, not drove.
He clearly kept his head and and body weight shifted to the side as much as possible. He even put his hands down to brace the fall for both of them.
If he really drove him to the ground he would have landed directly on top with all of his weight.

There are way to many fines handed out. I understand they want to protect the QB but give me a break these guys are just doing what they are suppose to. Too many guys gettng fined for great tackles.

wrong. he put his head in Bollingers chest as he drove his entire body into Bollinger, simultaneously driving his body into the ground.
That tells me you didn't really pay attention to the play. His helmet is clearly off to the side, not on Bollinger's chest. Please check again.

If I were the Giants I'd stand behind Tuck and pay the fine for him. That's absolutely absurd.

Thats freakin ridulcous.
That was a great tackle.
The NFL is basically saying that if you even try to give a QB an "owie:, you are gonna get fined. What bull****

The NFL has gone too far this season with the fines. I don't blame a lot of players for speaking out.

That was about as clean as a hit could be. I dont get what message they are tying to send with these stupid assed fines.

[QUOTE=knobs27;1917319]are you blind? his head is in the guys chest. just check the video and its clear at the 22 sec mark. on top of it you cannot deny him drivng the QB into the ground. QUOTE]
I am pretty drunk, but really? Really? I just don't see your point of view.

Apparently the backlash for the fine was too much for Goodell to take so he rescinded it.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3689275 Yeah! good for him!! The way they are trying to make a contact sport not a contact sport is weak. These DE's are trained to come off the edge as fast as they can and destroy. Tuck did it perfectly and deserves this, not a fine. I think Goodell should apologize and send him chocolates cause that's the kind of league he wants.

are you blind? his head is in the guys chest. just check the video and its clear at the 22 sec mark. on top of it you cannot deny him drivng the QB into the ground. its as obvious as it gets when he hits the QB and he takes him back 2 yards as he drives all his weight into the QB as they fall.
so get made at the rule itself, but not the interpretation of it. according to the interpretation he is guilty.
Complete BS. You can't possibly think that a Dlineman who makes that tackle can only land half his weight on the QB. Tuck unwrapped at the last second, helped brace the fall, didn't make contact with the QBs head or knees, and made almost simultaneous contact as the ball was thrown. Thats why it was rescinded. That was absolutely perfect. I coach High School football and will use this in our DL meetings this week.....

Yeah, I thought this fine was absolutely ridiculous! Seriously, this league is becoming so soft. Let the men play ball.

the only reason the fine was rescinded was due to backlash. Tuck hit Bollinger as he drove into him taking 4 additional stepd and driving all his weight into Bollinger as they hit the ground. you cannot deny any of that. the only thing you can be mad at is the stupid nfl's rule to begin with.
They hit at the EXACT same time, and on the way down Tuck lets his arms go out a little.......You have some of the worst opinions on here, always trashing SF. It's obvious you don't pay much attention at all......Heck it shouldn't have even been a penalty!!!!!!!!!!!

I can deny that. And so can everyone else on this thread except you. You're the only person here who saw Tuck drive all his weight, while everyone else can see that he put his head to the side and braced the fall with his hands. It was text book and doesn't even qualify for the stupid rule in place, which says you can't drive the QB into the ground. Tuck didn't do that so they took the fine back. You're alone in thinking otherwise.

i think you need new glasses...
It is an NFL rule that you cannot drive all your weight into a QB when making a tackle. Tuck clearly put his head in Bollingers chest as he drove into him taking 4 additional steps and landing with all his weight into the QB. just because he took his 1 hand off his back instead of bear hugging him all the way to the ground doesn't negate the fact that he drove his weight into the QB.
So its very clear that he drove into the Qb which is violation of rules. The absolute only thing you can dispute, which everyone is in agreement on, is that the rule exists to begin with. Its a dumb rule that should be eliminated.
I can tell you can't admit when you're wrong, but just to point out, no one else here saw Tuck drive all of his weight into the QB. Everyone saw him dip his head to the side (as illustrated in the video and picture) and brace the fall. So no, the tackle did not violate the rule and that's why the fine was lifted.
I guess everyone here needs glasses except you, lol.

the fine was lifted from all the backlash. Goodell has consistency issues.
Why was there backlash? Could it be that everyone besides you saw that the tackle was legal and that Tuck did not drive his weight and had his head to the side? If the play was even remotely questionable that it was illegal, even if defined by a stupid rule, there would be no backlash. They would have just simply put the rule up for review for the next season. Taking back the fine admits Tuck did nothing illegal under the rules.
Goodell having consistency issues is the only correct thing you've said in this thread.

We agree the rule is dumb.
The part we don't agree is that you say he violated that dumb rule by driving his head into the QB's chest with all his weight.
That's where everyone here is disagreeing with you because he didn't do that. I'm a broken record but the head is on the side (not chest) and he braced the fall (not putting all of his weight).

bro, here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GnOWxHveMw
after you watch it in slo-mo. if you can't see that Tuck hits the QB at the 24, drives him back in the air, then lands with his entire body driving into the QB at the 20 yard line then I don't know what else to tell you. its as clear as day he drives his entire body into the QB. its a clean hit in my book but violates the rule, which is also why he was penalized on the play.
Nope, don't see it that way, and neither did anyone else here. You can believe you saw it that way but just know you're alone on that.
