I was just curious if there was anyone who is a 49ers fan who actively wears jerseys of non-49ers? (Or apply this to yourself if you're not a 49ers fan but like to frequent here.)
When you see others doing this, do you feel it is okay to wear a non-49er jersey? Or is it being a traitor?

I'm a fan of the game first. I'm a fan of the Niners second. If a player I like plays for another team, I may get their jersey. Most non-Niner jerseys I own are throwbacks anyway.

I own only Niner gear. I see people at Niner games wearing jerseys of teams that are not even on the field!
To each, their own. I don't care what other people wear. Women can walk around completely naked for all I care! :towel:

I definately wouldn't go to a Niner's game in another team's jersey. I pretty much don't even wear the ones I own. The only jerseys I actually wear are Niner or Auburn ones. But, I do own other team's jerseys...for the name on the back.

I'm a fan of football as well as a fan of the 49ers. I own several none Niner jerseys, I rarely will wear them though, I sport the colors of my team. Ray Lewis, LT(both the one of the past and present), Tom Brady, TO(49ers, Eagles and Cowboys) are some of the ones I own, more because I'm a fan of them as players, not so much the teams they play for.:mouthclosed:

Interesting that someone posted an Antonio Gates jersey. I was actually thinking about buying the jersey of his teammate, LaDainian Tomlinson.
I am HUGE into my office fantasy football keeper league, and I've owned LT since his rookie season. Over that time, I've followed him so much that he's my current favorite player in the NFL.
I still love the 49ers to death and root them first and foremost, but my fondness for LT's career has me wanting that power blue jersey with Tomlinson on the name plate.
It would be my first non-49ers jersey, joining my 49er collection of jerseys of Steve Young (I have five different ones of him), Jerry Rice (a reversible jersey with red jersey and black jersey), and Jeff Garcia (white).

do it up man! you won't regret it. its truly a beautiful jersey, you'll feel like the king when you wear it. and don't feel any shame for puttin on another teams jersey, just remember you don't like the chargers you like LT. if anyone asks you if your a chargers fan just tell em " I don't give a **** about the chargers, i just like the color of this jersey and LT"

My 49er collection of jerseys: Steve Young (I have five different ones of him), Jerry Rice (a reversible jersey with red jersey and black jersey), and Jeff Garcia (white).
Please explain to me why you would have more than one jersey of a player (you can only wear one at a time)--why FIVE? I'll never understand that unless you have a small store! I can understand having more than one of Rice's if they are from his different teams. At Rice's press conference a week or so ago, there was a fan with 3 Rice jerseys, but they were from each of the 3 teams Jerry played on. THAT I can understand.
The only jersey I own is the framed signed red jersey of Steve Young's; it hangs proudly over my fireplace. On the mantel piece I have gathered a mini HOF helmet signed by SY, a signed football with Steve's stats on it, his biography, and 2 framed photos of Steve Young from his HOF event. The only thing missing is a mini SY bronze head from his HOF inductment.

The first one was a total piece of junk jersey in the early 90s. I forget who made it but everything was screen printed and it wore off in a hurry, even though it was well taken care of on my part. That company was never bought from again. I think it was LA Gear, but it was junk. Worst NFL jersey company ever.
The second came and was a Starter jersey. The classic Red. I loved that thing, and even though it shows its fair share of wear and tear, I'd still wear it today if I could. But man I wore that thing like constantly.
The third was a year or so later, when the Niners were on the way to the Super Bowl and wore those throwbacks where the numbers were outlined in black border. I said one day they looked cool. So guess what I got for Christmas of that year? And since our local stores only had Steve Young Starter-mades, and he was my favorite active NFL player... (My parents weren't up much for going an hour west to the big city, Columbus, where they may have been a bigger selection.)
The fourth was after the color scheme change to the current shades of red and gold. Reebok had come out with those reversible jerseys. (Fall 96, I think, I could be off a year.) So, I got a Steve Young one that reverses into home and away. It was cool, but was also thick cause of basically being two jerseys, so I got hot easily in it. (Someone else got me a Reebok-Jerry Rice jersey around that time.)
All four of those jerseys can no longer be worn, because my stomach grew just enough in my post-high school days that I can't wear them any more.
I had a Reebok-Jeff Garcia jersey a couple of years ago, and still wore it even though he went to the Browns, but I needed an upgrade.
So... the fifth Steve Young jersey came last year, when I went to Canton for the NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremony. They were selling Dan Marino and Steve Young screen printed replica jerseys made by Reebok using current color schemes and uniform layouts, both white and dark. All of them had a special 2005 Hall of Fame induction ceremony patch on the left shoulder. So, I bought a white Marino one (brother is a Dolphins fan), and a dark Young one for me (in my current jersey size, of course.) I wore it for every 49ers game last season.
And that is my history of NFL replica jerseys.

My R-A-I-D-E-R-S jerseys are a Jim OTTO Throwback, and Buchanon (mistake, never by a jersey until the player retires).
I also have a Jeff Garcia jersey to wear when I go to a 49er game.
My rules on jerseys....If the team isn't on the field, the jersey shouldn't be on your back.
The only time I wear anything RAIDER to Monster Park is when the RAIDERS are playing there. Otherwise I wear my GARCIA jersey or ordinary clothes.

I can understand some fans owning other teams' jerseys--as long as they don't wear them to a game when the Niners are playing. That is, if they are 49er fans.
As for me, I'm not a football fan; I'm a 49ers fan! Thus, I don't wear any other team's jersey--even if I admire (from a distance) a player currently or formerly on a certain team.
In fact, I like to make my own shirts from photos...

I think it's messed up to wear another team's jersey, if you're a die-hard that is. My boyfriend is a Packer fan and he wore a Garcia jersey for halloween one year (we matched because I was T.O. with the sharpies and everything) but you can't respect a man who doesn't rep his team with his whole heart. I forgave him because he did it for me, but that Christmas I bought him a Favre jersey to sport.
Wearing another team's jersey, to me, is like betting against your team. I know I'd have a lock to bet against the Niners every week, but I'd NEVER do it.
