No, it doesn't prove anything.

They beat the redskins and had a tie vs the Eagles and they took the Giants to OT before losing and they had the Cowboys beat for 3 quarters at Texas Stadium and were dominating that game before losing in the 4th quarter.

Does this prove that the NFC East is overrated?

Nope just classic examples of why you play the game.

We're 2-2 vs. the AFC East, and could easily be 3-1.

Does that make the AFC East weaker? Nope. Just happens sometimes.

No. The NFC-E still wins games.

Look, the Lions have almost won several games, are better than some other teams in certain statistical categories, but that doesn't change that fact the Lions suck.

I think the NFC East is overrated and the NFC south is underrated.

No. No. And no.

Eagles looked flat vs Cincy, Washington is very overrated and Cincy had Palmer when they played NYG. Cowgirls didnt really try til late, and then steam rolled the Bungles.

Uh no, it doesn't prove anything.

Are we sure this isn't a bigmar thread?

it proves that the NFC East is a joke that none of the teams can blow out a sorry Bengals team and all the media hype that this is the best division in football is garbage.

Do you mean parody or parity?

Because I'm not sure the Skins found much funny on Sunday, even though the '08 Bengals could be considered a parody of a football team, whereas the '08 Lions are just a tragedy (or a video nasty..).

I don't think the NFC East is overrated.

The Giants are playing their two best offensive weapons in Plax and Jacobs.

The Cowboys defense has been better since Wade took over but their QB is notably inconsistent.

I don't think anybody actually mistook the Skins as a Super Bowl contender. They are good, but I doubt anybody outside of DC actually took them seriously.

The Eagles have always been a hot and cold team. It's only a matter of time before McNabb gets injured (only for Philly to do better without him) or chokes in the playoffs.

Okay... so the Bengals are 1-2-1 versus the NFC East. The NFC East is now a joke because of that? Guess the Giants' win over the Steelers doesn't matter. Same for the Eagles over the Steelers. And how the Cowboys handed the Steelers a game. Or what about the Giants' win over the Ravens?

And then there's the Browns. Okay, give the Giants a mulligan, you can't win them all and that was their first loss in some time dating back to last season. The other teams did beat the Browns, though.

So what are you trying to prove? That one team makes up how strong a division is? Fact of the matter is the Bengals STILL have a losing record vs. the NFC East. Not like the Bengals went 3-1 or something. 1-2-1 is STILL a losing record, and the win was against a reeling Washington team that is all but out of the playoff picture anyway, and that win is hardly defining.

If you want a joke division, look at our own: Three teams suck and will not finish over .500, and the "winner" is extremely fradulent in the fact it could still feasibly finish 8-8 because it can't even blow away the weaker division teams.

I'm not saying that the NFC East is without its share of overhype (read: Dallas bandwagon) but the Giants are legit, and the East can STILL wind up with both Wild Card slots. I don't know if there is necessarily one super division of the eight, but the NFC East definitely has to be right up there with the NFC South and the AFC East in terms of competitiveness. (The AFC East could have an 11-5 team in New England not make it!)

But if you want to use the Bengals as the benchmark, be my guest. You're just not going to look very smart in doing so.

The Bengals look like they might be improving slightly

they shut out the browns and if they beat the chiefs this Sunday maybe Marvin Lewis might keep his job.

they played the steelers tough for about a half during that thursday night game

they are not throwing in the towel like I thought they would

they are probably better than the Raiders, Rams, and Lions.

So beating a team that lost its third-string QB and had to resort to a relatively new signee at QB is a sign of improving?

I whole-heartedly disagree.

no it doesn't. Eagles aren't good, but they'd be good enough in a few other divisions (NFC North and West, AFC West, East (maybe)). I hate them, but they're not terrible. 3 quarters doesn't count if you don't win the game. So they played teams hard, the most likely reason is these teams looked past the Bengals, while many Bengals players were fighting to keep their jobs.
