Doesn't fit the 3-4.

He can play standing up in the OLB position. He would be an upgrade to Haralson in the pass rush department. You won't see that beast being thrown around like a rag doll by a TE.:drive: (See VD vs Haralson)

No, I didn't mean that. Without the roids. This is the pass rusher the 49ers need. He fits the Singletary type of player.

This guy won both the Lombardi Award and the Nagurski Trophy. This guy is phenomenal.

If we don't get Orakpo maybe we could get Clint Sintim or Larry English in a later round.

I can dig it, but he probably won't be there but Everette Brown just may! :dance2:

I don't have a particular objection, but I'd say we have less need at OLB than at OT at the moment. And I personally would like to see a little more of what Haralson can do. Both he and Smith finished really strong, and given better overall play from the secondary, we could wake up with a quite good rush next year without changing a thing.

I'm a big Orakpo fan, but I think Everette Brown has better moves and is a better pass rusher.

Yeah, but Everett Brown is more like a Justin Smith mold. Okarpo can play OLB and can rush the passer.

Obviously its going to depend on who is available and what they decide to go with. I think Brown is going to be a 3-4 DE to play opposite of Smith while Orakpo would be more of a OLB. I think either one would be a good choice and would be able to put more pressure on QBs. Again, it just depends what they want to go with, OLB or DE.

Well, we still don't have a guy that can absolutely harrass a QB... Haralson and Smith are good, above average pass rushers, but neither of them are devastating.
A Shawne Merriman/Ware type of pass rusher would do wonders for this defense.

thats not true at all. Brown is the perfect size for our WOLB position. He's explosive off the edge and would be a fierce pass rusher in our defense. Justin Smith is a RDE in our defense, not much of a OLB like Brown can be.

Exactly, idk where people are thing Brown would be a 4-3 End, Brown weighs 252 pounds, Orakpo is 260 and stronger, while Brown looks faster on the field.
They would both be 3-4 Rush OLB
and Orakpo is strong enough and could probably play 4-3 DE if he added on 10 pounds maybe.

Justin Smith 6'4 285 (was 267 when drafted)
Brian Orakpo 6'4 260
Everette Brown 6'4 250
George Selvie 6'4 250
Shawne Marriman 6'4 272 (272 when drafted)
Demarcus Ware 6'4 262
Joey Porter 6'3 255
All are or should be OLB's in a 3-4 or RDE ina 4-3, except for Justin Smith who is just big enough to play RDE in a 3-4.

orakpo with willis would be epic
i think everette brown will be a better fit for what Coach Singletary is looking for which constant pressure on the QB, and Brown also has better change of direction than Orakpo which is good against the run.
