Some of the selections I'm not sure I disagree with, but overall much better than the Pro Bowl rosters.

Tight end: Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City.
Wide receivers: Andre Johnson, Houston; Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona.
Tackles: Jordan Gross, Carolina; Michael Roos, Tennessee.
Guards: Steve Hutchinson, Minnesota; Chris Snee, N.Y. Giants.
Center: Kevin Mawae, Tennessee.
Placekicker: Stephen Gostkowski, New England.
Kick returner: Leon Washington, N.Y. Jets.
First-Team Defense
Ends: Justin Tuck, N.Y. Giants; Jared Allen, Minnesota.
Tackles: Albert Haynesworth, Tennessee; Kevin Williams, Minnesota.
Outside linebackers: DeMarcus Ware, Dallas; James Harrison, Pittsburgh.
Inside linebackers: Ray Lewis, Baltimore; Jon Beason, Carolina.

Rattlehead to come in and complain about Philip Rivers not being named QB in 4...3...2...1

At least the AP sees that Patrick Willis was not the best LB on the NFL this season.

Thats a beast of a team. Love the WR's in Johnson and Fitzgerald and the outside linebackers are pretty impressive too.

Tough to complain about the starters, but some of the votes were baffling. Welker getting more votes than Boldin is ridiculous. As was Marshall getting a vote. I would have given my fb vote to Hedgecock, but McClain did get the carries which was the reason why Alscott won it so much. I assume kick returner counts punt returns too, which is surprising that Johnnie Lee Higgens only got 1 and a half votes. Winfield deserved more votes.

Heresy!
Good list - All-Pro is always a lot more meaningful than pro bowl...

Its not bad at all. The way they do it is still kind of messed up for 3-4 ends and 4-3 OLBs as they'll seldom make the grade, and nominating 2 LTs each year is weak, but in terms of actual voting there's nothing outrageous here.

Not at all. He didn't win the MVP award nor the OPOTY award. With that in mind he couldn't make this team.
I just wonder why Lechler made it as punter and not Scifres or Lee? What's so great about him?
Some others. Boldin as WR? Gates at TE? Willis at ILB? Longwell or Akers as Kicker?

I think Drew Brees should've been picked as the QB. Not that I have anything against Peyton at all... I just think Brees had one **** of a season.

He doesn't deserve it, he's not one of the top 2 LB's in the game.
I think he is...by lightyears. Oh well, he made the second team...
But Scifres, Boldin and Gates? Sometimes I wonder if I watch the same sport as some of these writers.

Boldin was hurt for too many games this year--in the games that he was in he was outstanding but it's hard to compare a guy who only played 12 games to one that played 16, and AJ was better than Boldin all year long.
Gonzalez had a better year than Gate--just look at their stats.

Two Giants? Wow, been a long time since we got some love. 4 more on the 2nd team too, hurray.
How could I have missed this one? Jacobs should have made it on the first team. There isn't anyone I would rather have on my team than a healthy Brandon Jacobs.

Not bad, Willis still made it on the 2nd team. It would have been nice if he made the 1st.

Willis should have been first-team all pro, not Beason (he should have been second team). And I don't care what anyone else says. Flame me, mock me, ridicule me. I won't care and I won't change my opinion :D. Overall pretty good though.

Forgot to mention, I'd have Hedgecock over McClain. McClain had an awesome year, and got in the way Alstott used to, but Hedgecock was a true FB and paved the way for 2500 yards rushing from 3 backs.

I find it hard to believe Beason is more popular than Willis given the publicity Willis gets. It might just be that Beason had a better year.

You decide:
Stats:
Patrick Willis:
Tackles: 141
Tackles For Loss: 7
Sacks: 1
Forced Fumbles: 1 (Should be 2, but the stat junkies screwed up)
Passes Deflected: 10
Interceptions: 1
Fumble Recoveries: 1
Defensive Touchdowns: 1
Jon Beason:
Tackles: 138
Tackles For Loss: 3
Sacks: 0
Forced Fumbles: 0
Passes Deflected: 5
Interceptions: 3
Fumble Recoveries: 1
Defensive Touchdowns: 0

Have you been following football at all, the world doesn't revolve around the 49ers there are other ILB that are good besides Willis. While I think Willis deserved first team more do not take away from the fact that Beason earned it also. Second team is still fine though imo.

This is Willis's accolades his first two seasons, DROY, 2 time PBer and 2 time AP player (1 time 1st team, 1 time 2nd team), thats a pretty small company of players who have ever done that.

It's nice to see we have a lot of all-pro players
All this does is confirm the fact we have no shot at Gross in FA

Using statistics to compare defensive players is not going to win you any arguments.
Lol. First off two things: One: I did not mean to seem like I was trying to pick a fight with you. I'm just edgy right now and I'm getting a little too aggressive. Sorry about that. Two: I'd like to point out that I'm not hating on Beason (he had a great year and I like the guy). It's just that Willis had a better year. He was even better this year then last year. He made plays all over the field (including behind the LOS, unlike Beason), and made plays all year long. He was excellent in coverage this year and knocked down 10 passes. He was stellar all year long and without Willis our defense would suck right now. Also, he doesn't have nearly as many players to help take the heat off of him. Our only effective d-lineman is Justin Smith. Our nosetackle gets thrown around, which means Willis has to fight off O-Lineman one-on-one at times. Outside of Smith, our only above average starters (besides Willis) are Spikes and Nate Clements. While I'm not trying to take away from Beason, he has the advantage of playing on a defense that includes playmakers like Julius Peppers, Thomas Davis, and Chris Gamble. Also he has an extremely underrated Nose Tackle who in Maake Kameatou (or however you spell it). So, honestly in my opinion Willis deserved the 1st team nod. He was statistically better in almost every category, he made plays every game, improved in his coverage, and even had a defensive touchdown. And I don't think that just because a player's team made the playoffs it should give him an advantage in something like this either, because it was a team effort.
Ultimately though, it really doesn't matter. They are both stellar players who will be Pro Bowlers for years to come (and hopefully HOF'ers someday). But in my opinion Willis is not only a better player but had a better season.
(GAH writer's cramp! lol)

I blame this on Ray Lewis. If he wasn't so dang good Willis and Beason would have been the first teamers...

Hey, do you have the link for that? I searched and couldn't find an article that actually stated the vote counts for each player. All i could find was the article on NFL.com...

If it were by stats, D'Qwell Jackson would've made it ahead of Willis.
