Just heard it on the news that Nolan and Capers are possible candidates to be the defensive coordinators for the Broncos. I don't have a link because I heard it on the news.

I thought Nolan was headed to Green Bay.

Not sure what happened in Green Bay but it looks like he is headed to Denver according to NFL radio.

I actually think that he should have been the 49ers DC instead of the HC. I always suspect DCs to be HCs for they are very defensive indeed!

Watch Nolan's horrible defensive philosophy get Bailey torched 10 times a game. The media will declare that Bailey is done after the biggest dropoff of his career.

Looks to be official should be announced later today..

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Denver Broncos are expected to name Mike Nolan as the team's defensive coordinator, according to a team source.

Well, considering Denver goes through DC's as fast as we go through OC's, I'll take the under.

Hopefully Singletary and McDaniel can stop these maddening revolving doors...

Is Denver going to switch to the 3-4, I say this because Mcdaniels comes from NE who ran a 3-4 and now Nolan. Plus I wonder how Engleberger feels about Nolan coming to Denver.

I bet Nolan will do an excellent job as a DC there. McDaniels should never let him call the shots on personel though.

McDaniels reportedly already has started filling his staff with the Broncos. NFL.com reported that former 49ers head coach Mike Nolan is expected to join Denver as the team's defensive coordinator.

I don't necessarily believe that Mike Nolan will succeed as the DC for the Broncos. Remember the only time he had success was when he had that vaunted Baltimore D. Most DC's can have success with the Ravens. I don't think Mike Nolan has the mental capacity to be a very good DC. I just didn't see a brilliant/bold mind in Nolan on the sidelines. Characteristics which make up a great coach. Instead I saw a fearful conservative mind that lacked innovation and smart aggression. I saw a lot of timidness, inconsistency, lack of creativity, poor clock management and confusion. If he can succeed in Denver, all the kudos to him. I wish him all the luck. But I don't think that will be the case.

McDaniels as a HC is a joke.

He is going to be a BUST.

Nolan will take advantage of him...

Coach why did you Challenge against yourself???
"well ... from my standpoint along the sidelines, I thought Brandon marshall caught the ball, so I challenged it, because I wanted the right call for the NFL, and I still lost my challenge, trying to challenge against myself.

What about the second Challenge?...
From my standpoint, I was standing, on a point... and Cutler threw the ball, but I thought it was a forward fumble thrown 25 yards to Marshall, so i challenged that too.

Why did you attempt a third challenge???

Well I thought we needed to use it at that time... I didn't think that they made that extra point. I thought when it hit the net behind there goal post that that means it didn't make it all the way through. Now let me clarify this... if I was a genius I wouldn't be a Head Coach.

Coach where do see this team going after that horrible loss???

“I told the team this is the second step of our journey, ... We look at the film and correct our errors, but it's as important to act like a champion after a loss as it is after a win. And that entails saying the right things and holding your head high. We had a big victory (10-9 over St. Louis) a week ago. This loss does not do anything but teach us a lot of things about where this team is headed.”

I really don't think that we can say too much bad about Mike Nolan. He attempted to bring in quality guys and character guys and he did, to a degree. He just didn't quite have the variables for a head coaching position, but the way he left, telling Singletary to take the job and giving him his blessing, shows maturity and wisdom. I wish him the best of luck and think he will do a fine job, not amazing, but well nonetheless

Broncos hire Nolan as defensive coordinator

Any questions about who would be Denver’s defensive coordinator now can be officially dismissed. The Broncos hired former 49ers coach Mike Nolan on Tuesday and gave him a two-year contract. Nolan returns to the Broncos franchise he worked for from 1987-1992.

Jay Culter better have his arm strong and loose for '09. The Broncos must average 35 points a game to win with the type of "defense" that Nolan used in SF.

Nolan was a complete disaster in SF. I thought even if he wasn't a good head coach that he was going to bring something to table defensively that would make our defense better. All he did was hold our defense back. Good luck in Denver coach. They will love the big nickel there with all those defensive backs they have. They also lack front seven talent as well so it should go over well.
