I hate to admit it but i'm starting to get a little worried about Arizona this year. They drafted Matt Leinart, Leonard Pope and Deuce Lutui today, all of which are great picks. They also picked up Edge James in the off season... Defense is still a little suspect but they i believe it will be solid. Will this finally be the year the Cards show what there worth? i hope not.

AZ is going to be good. No doubt about that. Lets hope we are up to the challenge. :flex:

they have way too many weapons... if they ever get their oline fixed and a half decent defense they are going to be really scary

I'm having a moment of deja vu... for the 100th time.
ha do you mean what they said about arizona last year being a contender?
i agree, the same thing was said last year about the cards, but they're only improving and you never know which player sends them over that tipping point making them a good team.

Injuries also hurt them last year....

There's still camps, pre-season games, and 16 regular season games to be played. I'm only worried about the Niners putting a good team on the field and staying healthy.

Arizona's priorities should have been: LB/CB/FS/OL.
When Leinart fell to them, they couldn't resist. Then, they just passed on other available talented defensive players for a 3rd round guard in round 2, and a good, but not neccessary TE in round three.
I still think they're only scary on paper, but won't do much when those guys get on the field.

All kidding aside, they have the pieces. But am I the only one that thinks that defense is gonna get lit up again?
yeah that and their o-line isnt all that great.

Arizona had a pretty stoud defense last year even though they lost there first round pick in *Antrel* Rolle early in the season. Other injuries also played a part in there defensive lapses.
Arizona ranked 10th against the rush and 12th against the Pass. Not to shabby IMO. Notable defenders: Karlos Dansby, *Antrel* Rolle, Bertrand Berry, Chike Okeafor, Adrian Wilson and Robert Griffith.

this is the only area of concern the Cardinals will have to further address. Even though they led the league in passing, they were dead last in rushing last season. They are however making the right moves by drafting Lutui and perhaps another O Linemen in day2 of the draft.

they had the flipside of the houston texans.
their oline did good for pass protection to allow their WR's to do damage. their running game wasn't that great...
it was terrible... dead last in the league averaging 77 ypg.

No man.. I totally agrere. I think the domination in the NFL is slowly shifting to the NFC West and we have to do what it takes to keep up.

No no, the Cards defense will be great, cause ya know, their savior pick last year (Rolle) will be back from injury and is a one man army... and they also have Chike Oqueefer...:falldownlaugh:

there offense is looking so good though, either the best or the seocnd best reciever tandem, and improved line, a great running back, a future star at QB and TE, Pope is pretty good...if they can do just a little more for their defese then they could be a playoff team

will be a very interesting first game for us playing at the new Cardinals state of the art stadium.

the defense also got lit up because their drives were basically comprised of all passes. anybody remember jj arrington? i don't. with a legitimate pro-bowl running back in Edge the Cards can actually run on people now instead of just airing it out the whole time. im not worried about matt, for now. down the line is what im more concerned about whenever anybody brings up the Cards. in the meantime, again i'm surprised they gave up on mcown so early.

that's part of the reason why Matui was drafted, his a run blocking OG.

I'm not a Leinhart fan. I don't buy off on his "superstar" talent and I think he's a product of the Halo Effect. Put him at a second-rate program and he's a 3rd rounder.
I think Duece Lutui is going to the Anthony Clement of guards. He's a waist bender and lunger. He can't pull or get to the second level. In a phone booth, he's your guard. In college, against limited players, he's your guard. But in the NFL? He's very limited and will have to be protected in a zone-blocking scheme that doesn't expect him to do much but wail on the player in front of him. I think he's an over-drafted 4th rounder. OTOH, I also think he's probably a better run-blocker than anyone they have on their team.
I think Pope will be a good pick. I don't think he's an elite TE prospect, though.
Watson is an underachieving, lazy turd who played hard only one game in his career - the Senior Bowl when the :money: was on the line. Otherwise, he got benched for multiple games by his coaches (as a senior!) and only played 15-20 snaps a game in any case.
OTOH, I thought their last three picks were absolutely top-notch players for the round selected. Bu the first four, those seem like so many other Cardinal drafts. Guys popular with the press and fans, but not so popular with the other clubs talent evaluation processes.

poor arrington. even though he was a silly card, i was hoping he have a lil success seeing he comes from CAL.
o well, too bad. that's what you get for playing for the cards.

AZ is going to be good. No doubt about that. Lets hope we are up to the challenge. :flex:
You know, people said that last year. Gave the Cards mad props for their draft.
They scored 24 points MORE on offense than the year before.
They gave up 65 points MORE on defense than the year before.
Net change (41) points on, what I believe, was an EASIER schedule.
The defensive tackles for the Cards suck at run defense. Which is a shame, because their ends and OLBs are actully good. I doubt the guy in Round 4 will make a difference, though the short DT they got later is actually intriguing and may be the better choice. Still, it seems a rarity for DTs to come into the NFL and become difference makers their first year.
Their offensive line sucks. There's not a player I'd want on the 49ers except, possibly, their LT (Leonard Davis) and I'd want him at RT and on the fat-boy program and a strength & conditioning program and really am not sure he could start for us. He's never been a nimble-footed pass-protector AND he's not a great run blocker, despite his size. And he's sure as heck not a $9+ million OT.
So until they fix the engine on this car, I don't care how many "spinners" they put on the wheels, it's not going anywhere. Now, they fix their lines, they could be a major pain in the butt. But until they do, I don't care how many "A+" drafts they get, they get no respect.

They may not be a solid run blocking team that most seem to think they should be but give them time to gel as an O-Line. they are just like us have players that keep getting schuffled in and out of the lineup do to injuries/Lost to FA (Deese,Stone,Brown) if ARZ and Us can do like KC has been able to do for the past 5yrs or so and put the same guys out on the field together for more then a few games both of the lines could develop into a top notch unit and with Warner now having Edge that is capable of doing the same things as Marshall Faulk and the top WR tandem in the NFL and Pope as anew RZ weapon could be the next chapter of the Greatest Show on Turf 2.
Alex with Gore/Robinson VD, which ever two of the 20 some wr we have on the team decides to step and be worthy of being here we could have that same type of offense( i do not count Bryant yet of being the true #1 wr until he proves that he is entitled to this by doing what a true #1 should do and have the ability to take over a game by themself like Rice,Owens,Moss,Carter,Holt,Harrison has done/still does for those still playing.) just my opinion on him as of right now.

I wasnt a Cardinal believer last year, but im gonna have to be this year. With the FA pick up of James and their drafting of Pope/Lutui/Leinart, along with the new stadium (sounds weird, but i beleive changes like that can change the whole attitude of the franchise), they'll be atleast an 8-8 team this year and probably a playoff team. Once Leinart takes over and gets comfortable, they'll be a perennial playoff team consistently fighting for the NFC west.

they swept us last year... we swept them the year before. hopefully this trend continues and we sweep them this year.
like i said... the Cardinals did a great job in the draft and they picked up Edge. Am i the only one that thinks Arizona has a legitamate shot of turning heads this year and running the NFC West?? We'll have to wait and see.

yea the cardinals to me are going to win the division. the seahawks arent going to because of the madden curse and superbowl curse, the rams arent built to me to take it, and us we are in the re building stage, we have a couple more years to get there honestly so that leaves the powerful birds with that high flying offense they will have. even if warner goes down, with all that talent around leinart, he will shine. They now have depth at line to hold down the trenches, 2 powerful WR's to get open anywhere on the field, drafted a talented te to throw to and have the immortal E. James in the backfield. I see them going 11-5 this year to me.

I'm not worried about their rookies until I see them play. I remember when I heard everyone say the Cardinals had one of the best drafts last year. I'll leave it at that.
