Although not as devastating as Norv Turner leaving the 49ers for San Diego, they will definitely have a problem finding an adequate replacement. Since their HC is offensive minded, it shouldn't be as bad as when Norv left the 49ers. But it's similar in that they are forced to find an OC very late in the process. Most teams will be unlikely to grant permission for their assistants to interview with the Cards.

Just saw it on NFLN too...no shocker, this has been the rumor ever since Pioli was hired.

Why wasn't Shanahan even interviewed for the job?

I wonder if they will still play to win the game?

Cuz maybe he's not the demi god that all the dillusionals round these parts think he is.

Yay, now we just need Boldin to leave the Cards and we'll be good.

Todd Haley is going to make a good HC. I wanted the niners to interview him for the HC job.

I agree and I think he will make an immediate impact round these parts. Im just glad to get him out of the NFC West (if he couldn't be with us). But it will be nice to tune into my local team on Sundays and actually possibly have a decent team. The Chiefs are waaayyyy under the cap. If Haley and Pioli do the right thing with cuts (surtain) Free Agents (lots) and the draft (drafting high as usual) the Chiefs could drastically improve next year

I wasn't aware they interviewed any minority candidates. But definitely a good hire.

Why wasn't Shanahan even interviewed for the job?

The two reasons that jump out to me:
1) Maybe they don't want to deal with his massive ego.
2) He lost most of his staff. Thats why everyone thinks he will take the year off so he can gather a new staff together.

This one was predictable when the Chiefs fired Herm and weren't interviewing anyone. Smart hire, and great for the Niners.

The 49ers have nothing to worry about with the Cardinals, with or without Boldin. Once Warner loses his confidence they will be back to the dregs. And for Warner all it takes is one game for him to lose his confidence.

Hopefully this season was just a fluke and the Cards will sink back into another century of obscurity.

Keep an eye on the Chiefs now. Pioli and Haley could be a dangerous combo. They might ressurect that team.

Denver still has to pay him as long as he is not coaching. When he was fired he still had three years and around $20 million remaining on his contract. He is taking some time off with pay. Can you blame him?

Really? Like in week 4 when Warner turned it over about 5 times vs the Jets? Yeah, he really went in the tank after that.
