Well in some areas of Canada (like where I'm from) there didn't used to be much in the way of NFL coverage. It's all about the CFL in the great white North :coolgleamA:

However, now adays in Canada we have like 6 sports network nationwide (4 RSNs, TSN, and the Score), plus whatever sports they show on CBC. So more NFL games are shown now than there used to be.

TVU seems to have the Bay Area FOX station, so you should be able to stream the game over the internet. It doesn't look nearly as good as a satellite or cable television connection, but you do get to see the game live for FREE!

(At least until the NFL finds a way to crack down on that :whistling: )

Google TVU player and you can get their free player and access to the Bay Area games.

The NFL is freaking huge in Canada give me a break! I've been a 49er fan for over 40 years. And the CFL does not rule here. The vast majority of Canadians want the CFL outta town and the NFL in...especially in Toronto. It's a huge traditional football market with over 7 million people living in the greater Toronto area. What is the NFL waiting for?

The vast majority of Canadians do NOT want the CFL out. A LOT of Torontonians don't give a **** about it and would prefer the NFL, but both the CFL and NFL do pretty well elsewhere in the country.

Toronto sports owners Ted Rogers (cable TV magnate and Blue Jays owner) and Larry Tanenbaum (controllin partner for Leafs and Raptors) both want to get an NFL franchise, potentially together. But the NFL said it isn't looking to expand. Toronto's best hope is a franchise moving, but it would have to be Buffalo (since a Toronto franchise would cripple the bills market) and that won't happen while Ralph Wilson is alive.

As for the issue of what games Canada gets, in Ontario the cable provider usually carries either a New York or Michigan channel for FOX, CBS , and NBC. Global and CH (sister channel) also pay for NFL rights and share the broadcasts. So usually you can see the main US national broadcast game and/or either the Bills or Lions, depend on how southwest you are.

TSN usually gets ESPN's games.

As long as the niners struggle, you usually either need luck and timeshifting cable channels (with Rogers sometimes the west coast time zone channel will show niners as its 'local' game) or NFL Sunday ticket to watch niners games.

The San Francisco St Louis game is actually the featured game at 4:05 on Fox. However, this week is CBS turn to do the double header, so unless you are in a market that has their main team playing sunday night or monday night and doesn't have their main team playing at 4 (don't even know if such a market exists) then you won't get the game.

Looks like I'm mooching off my friends Sunday Ticket again, this weekend.

The Los Angeles area has quite a few more people than that...yet, we still don't have a football team.

I didn't live here then. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, hence the 49ers being my team.

I wouldn't exactly call the raiders a team either.

The Rams were decent.

It appears to me this link takes you to an older version of the TVU Player. Version 2.2 can be downloaded from here:

http://www.viidoo.com/en/download.html

Some people have problems with TVU Player, and you can get all kinds of information on their forum which is found here:

http://www.viidoo.com/en/index.html

You can even watch TVU from that site, but you will still need to download the Player some place. Therefore I have both of those. The top one puts an icon on my desktop, and I keep the second one in my favorites.

This may help: TVU comes through Windows Media Player, and through VideoLan at: http://www.videolan.org/ I don't have VideoLan yet. WMP has some adjustments for video that you may find useful, but you will have to Google them to find them. Just mention Windows Media Player and video problems. You should find stuff on that.

Meanwhile, on the Forum is a link to something that is helping a lot of people with TVU. Look for a subject called Problems. Then look for a thread called: "steam all media through wmp **BETTER BUFFERING*". There you will find a suggestion about something you can add to your WMP for better viewing. It's helping me some, but others (in the US) claim it's helping them a lot.

I hope all of you get to watch all of the Niner games.

i live out on the east coast and hardly ever get to see the niners play only when they face the eagles so i had to buy direct tv and the nfl package this year:sf49:
I had assumed I would have to do that when I move back to the US, maybe in 2007, but if they keep improving TVU, I won't have to do that. I'm told it's already just fine in the US where people get a stronger signal than I do. This stuff is the wave of the future, one way or another.

While reading on a more technical forum about the stuttering problem with the video, I found a post that said we might try defragging our C Drive. I knew it was a stupid idea, but mine was overdue anyway, so I did it.

IT HELPED!!!

My reception isn't perfect, but it's getting pretty good for an ISP in a third world country. I should be able to watch the Niners this weekend much better than before.
