The Niners should not let FA FS Brian Dawkins visit another team. He's old and experienced and can bring a valuable leadership to this secondary and to the FS position which might be the teams biggest need aside from a pass rusher.
Sign Dawkins
Did he take his walker with him.

Dawkins would be nice to have, but the key word is OLD.. TJ H. would be nice to have, that would make our receiving core much stronger then what we have right now. We need some O-men though, and some strong CBs though. Marvin Harrison would be a huge pick up, because he can break some records in a niners jersey. That would be huge for our franchise. Hopefully we pick up good talent, because I don't want to see 2nd rate players that are real cheap to pick up on this team. We can't win superbowls with 2nd rate talent.

He's been in the leage for a long time, that is not the point. A two year deal would be a bigger benefit to the team and Singletary's quest to put the toughest team on the field each sunday.

If anyone one is over the hill its Harrison, plus he's been injured the last couple of years

If this is true then we still have a chance... I know Dawkins isn't a long term solution but he is a big upgrade from Roman, I don't care how old he is. It would be nice to have him on our team.

THank you.... I never imagined him playing when my 3 boys were hitting their teen years. A two year deal would imporve this team more than anyother free agent I can see out there right now!

I think the 49ers should take a good hard look at signing Dawkins if the reprt that Dawkins is still a FA is true. Then after we sign Dawkins the 49ers need to go & sign Derek Brooks & those 2 alone would make our team twice as good as it has been the last 6 years.

I think leadership and tough nosed football players are valued way too low in the league. When i heard the numbers denver was offering Dawkins it made me wonder why the Niners didnt give him a chance. Its not like he wanted a six year deal. The man can still play. He'd be the modern Lott on this team. Pair him up with Willis and no WR in this league would consider SF a good place to go for an away game!
Dawkins brings his tenacity that no other player could for the Niners!

Dawkins is one of the few guys out there that seem "over the hill" that i wouldnt mind here and think that they can tremendously help us out. On one hand, people had the age and injury argument against spikes coming here, and look how well that turned out. On the other hand, its not like he will break anybodys bank and the eagles reportedly have a now $40 mil in cap space, one has to wonder why they havent tried to retain their defensive leader.

I fully anticipate waking up tomorrow to read that Dawkins is on his way to the Niners for an interview. Or at the very least hope he's talked to Singletary and the Niners are at least entertaining the idea!

I would love to get Dawkins in here on a 2 year deal as our starting SS. From there he could teach the younger guys about the FS spot and knock fools out.

Yeah, he's so old he had 6 forced fumbles last year + 3 sacks. Clearly too old to play.
How many did Roman have? Hmmmm.

They're saying there were conflicting reports earlier whether he left with a deal or not but as of right now the word is he's signed.
Still not reported with any major news source. Unless I'm missing it...if so, please post a link that isn't out of Denver or Philly
The last thing posted in Sheft's blog says he is NOT signed yet (or at least, not confirmed)
Buckhalter, Arrington to Denver; Dawkins not done
Contrary to published reports, free agent safety Brian Dawkins does not currently have a deal with the Broncos. However, he is en route to Denver. The Broncos do have agreements with running backs Correll Buckhalter and J.J. Arrington, according to the players’ agents.

Adam Schefter blog doesn't say anything, the Denver Broncos forum itself is still in awe land of signing him, no word of the possibly leave without a contract.

Well, he probably talked to Mike Nolan for one minute, turned his back, rolled his eyeballs, and walked straight out!

I am pissed if the Eagles let B Dawk walk but with all their cap space makes me think that their going after Anquan Boldin hard and with two 1st round picks and McNabb calling their bluff.....we`ll see.

Was 1st reported by the SF Chronicle.
Thanks man. That link is just sourcing the Chronicle, which could have been one of the first mis-reports.
I assume he WILL be in Denver, but IMO it's an open door until it shows up SI, ESPN, NFLN, etc.

ESPN made mention of it briefly as "likely to sign with Denver" but they were siting the SF Chronicle as well.
Haha yeah, amazing how fast word can spread from one source, eh?
Still, I have a strong feeling it will happen, if not already. I would be VERY surprised if he ended up elsewhere.

Well, the article does say that they wouldn't announce anything till Saturday so that may be why there's a lack of information. Still a chance it's false but I think it's 99% certain he's out of the NFC East finally (yay)
Ah I see. Then yeah, it's VERY likely legit.
Still, odd that no other major source isn't at least citing the report.

The Broncos inked their sixth player of the day, Miami safety Renaldo Hill. He will fill one of the safety spots while Denver hopes to finalize the Brian Dawkins' deal, which could happen tonight. He is in Denver now and a two-year deal could be near completion. But until he is signed, don't discount the idea of the Eagles' star returning to Philadelphia.

Reason id like possibly signing Dawkins:
I no longer have to hear about Roman
Maybe some ppl shut up about us doing nothing
And he'd be a nice gap starter and mentor to Eric Berry, Taylor Mays, or Earl Thomas next off season! :)
Thank you... the free agent/draft pool is very weak this year and a potential nice year coming up would be great if we didnt have to have roman out day-dreaming in center field all year...
