If you think Nolan is responsible for the personnel changes in Denver, wow.
he definitely has some say on Defense
just like Martz did with us last year on offense (Bruce, O'Sullivan)

He is the DC why wouldn't he, he has some say so, they didn't bring all of these players in last year and half of the players they cut were in san fran when nolan first got here so i think nolan has a big part in what they are doing.

Nolan's a great Coach to have backing you up as a Coordinator on a staff...
a Fine Personnel guy to build with in front office(i feel he's best suited for)
just
NOT A 'COMANDING' presence as Head Coach

The Broncos Defense is a mess. They have two good defenders in the secondary, each aging. That's pretty much it.

nolan isnt pulling any of the strings in denver. he is the DC he coaches what the front office gives him. he might say he wants a player or not but the FO is the ones making the plays. he did it here, but has no pull in denver.

Not only dawkins look at all the other quality players they signed.
you could have a 90 year old safety back there if you have pass rushers that get alot of presser it won't matter, what are you try to say dawkins is not still one of the best safeties in the league? you need to be slapped for that one
:slap:
dawkins is not the player he once was. there is a reason the eagles let him go somewhere else. he is a good safety but not one of the best in the league anymore. teams just dont let the best at a position leave.

so signing a 36 year old safety to a 5 year deal passes for a good move in your book?:slap:

My man did you see when all of those players from denver got released? out of maybe 8 players 6 of them were playing with the 9ers when nolan first got he and he cut them.
He did the same thing when he went to denver to those same players when martz came here he brought some players with him and nolan is doing the same thing in denver.
none of that made any sense what so ever. what players did martz bring? bruce? as i recall bruce wasnt with detroit the year before.
and as i said when nolan was here he had some pull with the FO. he doesnt have that in denver.

Broncos signed DL Darrell Reid to a three-year, $6.8 million contract (colts)
Broncos have agreed to terms with LB Andra Davis on an undisclosed deal.
(browns)
and they have other players visiting they may signed our DT ron fields

well that's not true because they plan to hav our DT ron fields in for a visit but i am not saying that he is going to bring in our players i am saying the players that he want's to have in that D not what the FO wants
teams just dont let the best at a position leave.
Yes they do. Sometimes they don't have a choice. If a player is an upcoming free agent and doesn't want to sign with the team anymore, then so be it.

When any other team goes out and signs mediocre talent like Ronald Fields, they're "building their team." When the 49ers go out and sign Brandon Jones, "WHERE SETTLING FOR 3RD STRINGERS INSTED OF IMPROOVING!!!!!!"
Dawkins would've been a fine addition. Where does he get off asking for a 5 year contract though? That's pretty bizarre.

From NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80efe6f7&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true)
"Dawkins signed a five-year, $17 million deal that includes $7.2 million guaranteed, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter. The contract also has escalators that could boost the value of the deal to $27 million over five years, but the deal also could be voided to two years, $9 million, reports Schefter."
Signing a 5 yr deal also spreads any signing bonus over 5 years, so helps their cap now.

A tough veteran whos a great lockerrom presence on a rebuilding D. Along with his 75 tackles, 3 sacks and 6 forced fumbles. Not to mention his 8 playoff appearances and 5 Division championships...
Anyone who doesn't want a player like Dawkins on their D doesn't know a whole lot about coaching football.... IMO

dawkins is still a solid safety, but not elite. His run support is superb but his pass coverage skills are so-so at this point. I live 20 mins from Philly; I watch him play every week.
He's good, but he's not worth that 5 year deal with at least 9 million guaranteed.
And what pass rush are you talking about, are you high? Their D was terrible last year. And what pass rushers are you talking about? Elvis Dumervil? He's ok. Nobody else on that D is a good pass rusher.

I like Dawkins a lot, in fact, I advocated getting him here.
But IMO a 5 year deal for a man who's almost 36 with at least 9 million guaranteed is going a bit overboard
But gee, I guess I must be crazy.

This signing says two very obvious things to be...
They don't intend on him playing 5 years and that they think their defense is sorely lacking in leadership. They could have signed someone younger, maybe someone like Sean Jones, but chose to sign Dawkins instead. They are either really stupid or think Dawkins can help the players around him to play better.
I guess we'll see if that is true.
Besides...it's not like they signed 10 old guys or they traded away their draft picks.

dont' get me wrong, I think it's a solid move.
But I wrote this in response to DemBoyz' thread title about how Nolan is really building the D.
Not so sure they're a powerhouse yet, or will be at all under him.

are you crazy? he is still one of the best safety's in the league the eagles will regreat not signing him back he was the leader of that team you can't replace leadership

It's more than just being a safety, you are a joke, he is one of the best safeties in the league PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no he isnt, a team would not let go one of the best safties in the league. leadership doesnt make you a great player, you have to prove it on the field, and dawkins doesnt really do that anymore. you dont know **** about football if you think he is still one of the best in the league. as i said before, he wasnt even the best on his team, do some research before you make dumb posts.
